catalytic legalities for conversion
Hi all was just putting this question out there to try and save myself sometime. does anyone know of the actual legalities of whether you have to put
a cat in the system when you go the ej conversion into a bus? anyone that can point me in the right direction, will be looking up and call the QLD
transport tomorrow.

You will need it fitted to pass emmisions for that engine.

The full emissions of the engine or vehicle (whichever is the newer) must be met. 1993 Subaru engine in any pre 1993 car must meet 1993 emissions. So
yes a catalytic converter must be fitted.

i thought so but was your example of the 1993 hard fast cause mine is from a 91 model?

It is all relevant to the stages of emission control. If 1991 is same as 1993 then it is ok.
For example 1986 was when unleaded and cats came in. If the next stage was for example 1994, then any engine or car combo within those years will be
accepted with each other.
Check with QLD transport website.

If the vehicle that the "donor" engine was fitted to was fitted with a catalytic converter then your conversion must also include one,so YES you
must fit a cat to your system as the donor vehicle had one fitted if it is a 91 model.

Thanks for all the help, the main reason was that i'm just trying ro consider the way i will do the exhaust. i want to try and have both exhausts
tuned length, but i would like to find out what the acutal differences are in both performance and power. doing it mainly myself so i might have to
try both
