I bought a sensible car (B5 VW Passat)

We decided to finally upgrade my wife's Mazda 121 to something that doesn't frustrate me to drive (from lack of power).

It's a MY00 B5 VW Passat, with a 1.8L 20 valve turbo :thumb. The turbo is set-up for low end grunt, not HP, so it only has about 150HP. Enough to keep me happy for now. If I ever get bored I can get it chipped and get close to 200HP.

It's optioned up with leather interior, climate contol, sunroof etc. It also has a 5-speed auto that has a semi-auto (semi-manual?) setting and an electronic differential lock.

So now there's two VW's in the family :D

Nice!
Since doing some work experience at the local new VW dealership, i've grown to like the newer water-pumpers!

Very nice. I had a B4 VR6 that I ran for 9 years. Bloody nice car. This fella looks like a peach.
Now imagine it just a little lower and some 18" BBS Alloys. Subtle but nice.

Looks awesome as is though, congratulations.

Nice car !
I looked at these for my wife, and she actually agreed and wanted one. I was put off by poor examples and the thought of a major repair bill. Around the same time My mechanic was repiring a VR6 golf for another customer and front strut inserts and aircon repair was $4500.00. enough to make me think the Passat could be the same or worse ! As much as I liked them, I decided it wasnt worth the risk.

This one has a 3yr warranty which lessens the financial risk, and if anything breaks I'd probably fix it myself anyway. So I should be fairly safe... :)

It's capped per claim. I should be right though, it's low km and a late model.

It needs a chip for the tiptronic to make it respond quicker, and it really needs bigger rims, but it will stay how it is for a while :)

Very nice Wes :thumb

Any new or newish european car makes me nervous though at the thought of ongoing part replacement cost, even with a warranty :)

I'm sure Megan will love driving it though.
