Hey Napat,
Judging by the stock carby your engine looks like a 1600. What sort of drag does the a/c compressor put on the engine when its on. Is it very
noticeable?
Not fitted the steering box kit yet as I'm getting new sills welded in.
Cheers

Hi Steve, :-) good to see you here!
It's 1776cc I just change from stock to 90.5 and a little modification :-)
Umm when compressor start to work... just very very little noticeable.
If you park in a quiet place... you can hear they working. May be 2-3 decibel.

Napat,
a couple of questions. What model/make is the compressor you have on the motor and where did you get the blower unit? (the part under the dash) that
size looks great for a bug, is it a local made thing or from outside Thailand?

that compressor is just a sanden one typical to most small jap cars
just go to a wreckers or get on ebay look for anything thats from a smallish 94 on car ( theyre on 134a and dont need retrofitting)
that under dash evap is just the standard one that dealers fitted when the cars were new
few 2nd hand ones getting round on US ebay
they do steal alot of space tho
this isnt a factory one but its same design
his website is http://www.gilmore-enterprises.net/GH/index.htm
napat, thats a very small drive pulley on the crank it wouldnt be spinning the compressor over real fast specially on a low revving vw motor
do many ppl beleive u that its a shorrock supercharger? LOL
ive got a supercharger going on my 74 cant wait to see how many ppl thing i have air conditioning
BTW thats the condensor underneath that is next to the gearbox

Barry (Bizarre), seeing as your in the aircon game, can I pick your brain on something. If I were to pu the evap and blower behind the back seat,
could you link the output of the blower to the heater tubes under the rear seat, and use the existing heater channel to bring the cool air to the
front of the car? Do you think there will be thermal(cooling) loss as the heater tubes aren't insulated. Also would there be a risk of condensation
causing premature rusting of the heater channel? Just a thought.
Cheers Steve

Steve
Theremal loss - yes. Some. Measurable....probably. But it is a short run.
Condensation. Very likely. Depends how cold it puts the air out. To some extent the carpet would insulate the heaterchannel inside the car. You could
armaflex under the rear seat. Underneath - no different to rain.
What you could do though is mount the evap so as it throws the air up from the parcel shelf - so it flows along the roof lining.
Then "suck" the air back the heater channels to the parcel area - drawing the air over the driver??
You could make up a change over so it blows heat and sucks air cond??
Gunna have to get serious about this

Hi
Aircooled net have units on there website. They look OK but would be LHD. Napat, does your engine lid shut OK, it looks close.
As far as the piece under the dash for flat screen bugs, you could have something made up in plastic or fibre glass to fit vents to.
I'm planning to fit AC on my 1303, the subi already has a compressor, I've bought a nice size evaporator & condenser. The condenser will either fit
into my tail or in front of the radiator. The evaporator I'm going to fit in the air box where the wiper motor is. I will block of the vents on my
scuttle panel and draw air from inside the car only, then blow it over the evaporator and then through vents in the dash.

The ACnet ones are Gilmour and do RHD in both Super and L bugs for $1400US
Might just go that way
http://www.aircooled.net/new-bin/viewproductdetail.php?keyword2=INA0001&carti...
What would be the difference between a 1302 and a standard beetle for the evap section??
Is the steel dash of a 1032 the same as a standard beetle??
Napat
The AC net set up has a single belt. - ie uses stock crank pulley
Why didnt you just run a single belt??
Not enough contact to drive the alternator from the crank pulley??

Hey Bizarre :-)
DUB74 was right!
I cant pull back the compressor enought to use single belt on bug.
I've seen someone does it on his bus (more space on engine compartment) it's turn out "not enought power to spin the compressor" ... but Thailand
is very hot may the single belt suit for OZ. I m not sure :-)
Flintstones was right too. small pulley... out put more!
Hey reub-revhead! Will post more pics for you.
1303Steve .. The engine lid shut ok :-) there are 4mm. space between compressor and the lid. If you have oval bug you need a little modification.
Any question? I m here to answer as much as I can.
:-) I have dictionary to translate all technicle terms already!
