althernatively - just get a set of late porsche fuchs in 5x130 and redrill your brakes to suit. will look just the same.

Nick and paulr - Thanks for the ideas - I want wide five American Eagles because Fuch rims are my favourite by far,
but I have decided I want to keep wide five pattern so I can interchange rims as my collection increases...
I am still kicking myself that I didn't see a set on here quick enough that sold in a day or two for $1K.

redrilling your drum brakes will not stop you interchanging wheels. you will have both wide 5 and a smaller offset.
the ones listed on the samba are american eagles.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I understood that you could not redrill wide 5 drums as they dont have enough metal where the holes for the new studs
would go. They are only thick enough around the existing bolt pattern. I'm sure you can redrill 4 stud brake drums though. There was an article in
HotVWs or VWTrends many years ago about this.

They stopped making them about 5 years ago or so. The only place I have seen the wide 5 eagle fuchs is on the samba. Re drilling the drums is a big
nono, not only is it illegal to do here in oz but it can be a dangerous thing.
The Yanks don't seem to be too safety conscious, 300hp on the street with drum brakes?!?!?!?!?
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.....
But a true friend will be sitting next to you saying "Damm that was fun!!!"
