windcreen washers


can anyone tell me how the windcreen washers are activated on a 66 beetle (where is the swithc or button to make them squirt)??????

If it's the same as a 65 (which I would guess it is), the washers are run by the same switch that runs your wipers. There is a rubber bellows thing on the back which should theoretically pump the water. You need to sort of pump the switch (pull it out and push it in repeatedly).
Unfortunately these pump things seem to be notorious for deteriorating so they no longer work.

I got a new switch for mine and it STILL doesn't work, I think there may be priming issues like with a siphon.
