Sergeant R Ritchie must be a very very busy man. He issues all of our speed camera fines in Vic and has done so for as long as I have been driving.

Whatever it is, I know that photo well. It used to be on the office wall of the guy who set up the traffic camera system in Vic - he was a client of mine way back in '96.

Hi

So what would happen if you were on multi lane road and you sped through a speed camera and a truck was next to you, between you and the camera? I guess that they couldn't identify you, so no fine.

I hate it when i'm in that situation Steve
a car overtakes You in the next lane....

and I'm driving along very slowly....

so far nothing has happened...

One day a motor cycle overtook Me on a country highway
just as a highway patrol car with radar came around the corner...

As I was speeding at the time...
the Bike saved Me...
He was probably doing 120 when He overtook Me....

it was bad luck for Him.....

I saw on pay TV yesterday

a fellow with a hot car added a clear perspex type
rear number plate cover...
the number plate is clearly visible from the rear
up to a certain degree...
then its not clear, so a camera cannot take the number
and He said it cost $35US....

good idea...

They tested a whole bunch of those on Myth Busters a few weeks ago. None of them really worked.

Hi Lee

I'm pretty sure that the camera software can detect which lane was speeding, so a slow moving truck would be still showing a slow speed. It get its data from a sensor in the road. I would be willing to test my theory, I just need someone to donate points to me.

I've given up on myth busters, they got a bit stupid and I didn't like the method of testing that they did sometimes. The huge speaker in an old Merc comes to mind.

The number plate cover sounds promising, I've heard hairspray makes a plate eligible.

That's correct. I have a friend that services them. They indicate in which lane the car is being tracked. They can track all lanes that have the sensors in them at once. They can be triggered by more than one vehicle at a time.
