The New CB Forum Format

Gentlemen,
I see the forum is back up and running now after some software updates.
I'm not particularly excited about the new arangement of CB information.

I'm not sure this fragmenting of the CB info is advantageous to CB forum readers for ease of usage.
These sub-forum categories require more clicking around to search for info.
The main advantage for the previous display arrangement was all the CB info was linked from one page.....that included the info that has now been placed elsewhere in "sub-forums".
This arrangement made it very easy to see if someone had posted a new message to any CB category......it was all there on one page.
This was a similar arrangement to The Samba format which has "Sticky" and "Announcements" carried permanently at the top of the forum page, and frankly this makes the most sense to me. Since there is a limited volume of Country Buggy information as compared with other VW models, why fragment that info more?
Keeping all the info links on one page makes the most sense to me, and honestly makes the information much easier to view and access.

I see no advantage for users of the CB Forum with the inclusion of this new "Sub-forums" feature.
I feel it is a hindrance to the use of the CB forum.
I'd like to see these sub-forum categories returned to the main Country Buggy forum page.
Just my two cents worth.

What do the rest of you think about the new format?

Regards,
Steve

To start with get down off ya bloody horse and realise that Country Buggys are rare and we all respect that BUT i don't feel there is a need for such a HUGE page as you make out for this model as oposed to such rarieties a shwimmers and hubels etc.
Oh and your avatar _________________all i can say is i hope you really have a thing and your not just using this sig as a poor excuse because there is no CB sig available , BECAUSE A CB IS NOTHING LIKE A THING !!!!!!!!

Schwimmwagen - produced over 15.000 , still some thousand + in existence
Kubelwagen - produced over 40.000 , still plenty of them...
181-182 - produced over 100.000
CB produced less than 2000 and not more than 300 left...
So what really is a rarity?

up grade

Not sure how the software upgrade on this forum works but i'm guessing it set it all like this automatic.
I agree it was better the way it was and I'll make time soon to correct the problem.

As for A Westwood's comments what going on here?

Ztnoo is like any other person who posts on this small forum a valued enthusiast.

Like i said at the start of this forum its only new and any input to how it should be set up and managed is taken on board.

forum update

On the main page of AVD it has all the subcategories but if you still click on the COUNTRY BUGGIES heading it still takes you to the main original page.
I don't really see any need to have all the categories up on the AVD page so I might look into changing that.

Nathan,
Thanks for your kind words.

I agree there is really no need for those sub forum titles on the main page, if when one clicks on "Country Buggies" is takes you to one page that contains all the CB links as it did before.
I found that format so much easier to use.

Another message I see on the pages since the software change that baffles me is something appearing beteen the ad banner and the "sort by" banner.
I never noted it before.
It reads as follows:
"Notice: Undefined variable: subforum in /var/www/avds/forums/viewforum.php(650) : eval()'d code on line 3"

I have no clue what that means, I only know it is something that is distracting and something that certainly wasn't there before.
I would assume it relates to some technical issue or glitch.....maybe Andrew is the only one who can deal with it.

Whatever you can do to return our small forum to its original look will be much appreciated.
:tu:

Regards,
Steve
