URGENT HELP NEEDED (and fixed)
Just lent out my new 64 Beetle to my Mum and partner for a rock n roll festival starting tomorrow night.
Got a call a minute a go from them saying the driver door wont latch shut?
Apparently mums partner got locked in at the shopping centre (got out the passenger side) and then got the drivers door open and now it wont latch
shut.
He thinks the locking mechanism is all ok but the pin??? is not dropping down so the door wont latch.
The major problem is that they need it for ther cruise tomorrow night.
Ideas, help???? (Short of taping/gluing the door together?)
Thanks in advance

i had the issue once. the little thing that latches the door ova the latch on the b pillar. ended up getting jammed and wouldn't latch, so IE: hte
door wouldn't close.
I didn't care much for the car at the time, so un-stuck it by using a flat head and prying it back around, wasn't too hard on it, was like as though
it just gently stuck itself up.
That was my half arsed solution that worked.
But if you were to instruct them to give it a go, rap the end of the flat head with tape so it won't scratch paint, be gentle, and make sure the door
is unlocked.

Thanks Chris
I have rung and told them to have a hack at it and hope for the best.
It is a bugger though as they have been waiting a month for this rock n roll cruise and I have secretly bought them some VW Beetle badge bling for em
too.
Hope your idea works mate!!
Cheers

On later beetles there is a tounge / latch / star wheel that locks over the "bar"on the B pilar.
If that is in the wrong place the door wont close properly
You just need to flick the toungue out so as the door can close??
Futue te ipsum!!!

Well it all got fixed in the nick of time.
Mums other half tried to pull the latch down but it was very very stuck. He took it to a crash reparier to see if he could have a go. He said he could
do one better and took him out the back to a wrecked 64 that he said had been before he bought the business!
Long story short he leant Mums partner all the tools and he changed the mechanism over (not without some swearing and annoyance) and charges him
$10!.
So all went well. I appreciate everyones advice and help.
Now all I have to do is change the chrome lever in the front 1/4 window as that is broken now too. I think I learnt a lesson about NOT lending my
pride and joy out again.
