 Ultimate daily driver...

Thought this could be a fun thread and was spawned after a recent conversation with a friend (not into VW's) about what (money taken out of it) would
be the ultimate daily driver for our current needs.

So, money no object (for arguments sake: you get a big vehicle allowance upfront from your current work/new job in same industry) and it has
to wear a VW badge - what would be your ultimate daily driver?

I'm leaning towards an early type 3 Notchback (altho the practicality of a square is inviting too), done in a 'pro-touring'/German Look style with
17" 3 piece rims, porsche big red brakes and big turbo type 4 motor.
Would probably have to be an automatic - (have been driving auto's around the city too long to go back) something like a Porsche tiptronic would be
nice - and the suspension would need ALOT of thought since I would want it LOW, somewhat firmly sprung yet not jarring each time you hit a pothole.
Inside: ipod interfaced stereo (like the clarion touch screen) air con, electric highback & nicely bolstered seats trimmed in cloth (not a fan of
leather) to nicely offset whatever external colour I choose.
Outside: Black or silver, all factory chrome in place, factory steel sunroof, pop-out rear windows, single blade bumpers (over riders removed) and
some nice smallish (like new mini size) subtle yellow spotlights. Got to have tinted windows if it's a daily, not a fan of tinted glass on old school
cars but have seen a gorgeous silver mustang kicking around with a dark blue tint that I think sets it off perfectly

Your turn!
Remember it's just for fun

I'd have to say a new Jetta with all the fruit. If I was allowed a parking spot under my building I would have a slammed Notch or Bug on airbags to
get down the ramp.

A spec'd up new passat probably, as the 1.8T Passat I have is pretty sweet and the newer ones have a few more toys. A daily driver should be
comfortable and relatively fuel efficient if it is to be driven regularly.

PS - I'm getting old aren't I

I now this is a little left of field , but my ultimate ride would be a 1966 Ford Anglia "SUPER "with a BDA twin cam motor ,close ratio box ,alloy
diff , fully adjustable suspension , roll cage , in antique white with a british racing green roof and a tan period interior. Oh and a free pass to
run Targa Tas

Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel

Hmm
Either my car as it looks, but restored so its mint, and a hot motor in the back..
AND/OR
A 1971 Dodge Challenger ala Vanishing point (dead stock with a 426 or 440.. hey, while i'm dreaming i may aswell also dream that i can pay the fuel
bills!!)..
Or maybe an australian charger.. that'd be sweet too!

I think people are getting confused between daily driver and ultimate weekend toy. I'd love a 1971 RT Dodge Challenger as well, but I wouldn't use
it as a daily driver (couldn't afford the fuel bill for starters)...

 Good question.

I'd go for the white 60's ragtop that featured on the front of Hot 4s. The one credited with starting the Cal-look scene. For the look anyway.

Mechanically I'd like it to be powerful and maintenance free. I'm think a blown 2007 with injection, hydraulic lifters and a quiet exhaust. I'm
with Cam on the Auto too.

The interior would have tons of sound deadening, recaros and a good stereo. Above all it would have to be waterproof.

I'd be happy with the brakes and suspension from my oval for comfort and handling. But I'd set the rear higher for the cal-look rake. The tyres
would be skinny 175/55R16 front and 225/45R17 rear Yokohama Advan tyres from a lotus on 16 x 6 and 17 x 8 Fuchs.

The only problem would be the lack of bumpers. The morons where I live would bang into the nice panel work all the time.

I love my PBB as she IS my daily driver and is soooo nice to cruise everywhere in... so I'd just want her with even shinier paint, 356 wheels with
hubcaps and a lot, LOT lower.

Or a VW Golf GTI W12 650 .

considering i drive most of the day every day for work, id like a single cab VW crafter series turbo diesel short wheel base van, with step-thru cabin
and a full work bench setup in the back.

a non-work daily driver, my '69 beetle, painted metallic purple, slammed on bags, with sprintstars, pop-outs and a 2300 something twin 58 IDA. (its
coming, oh yes)

Hard to imagine them as being that popular a car at one stage... My grandparents had one they bought new in '74 and sold it in '94... since then I
have only seen 3 anywhere in Australia... and one of those I havent seen since 1996!

Seeing as tho this has wandered off on a non-VW tangent, gimme a 12 Gordini, a Fiat X1/9, and a Porsche 914 and I think I'd be happy for a little
while!
