FS SA Ebay Ad
Anyone seen or know this car?
It didnt reach reserve first time up on ebay (3200 ish I think)
I was thinking about it for a daily driver?
Do you think the bigger Engine would be a hasle to drive?

I'm not up on what's best in terms of engine combos - but the only thing I see as a negative is the narrowed front end. Why anyone would reduce the
handling capabilities of a car is beyond me (the narrowed front end)

Hmmm, maybe we're not all into racing around corners! Some do it for the look (ie low without dangerous scrubbing!). Each to their own....

so long as it doesn't lead to you having an accident. I reckon that if an accident was shown to be due to a modification that lessens safety - like
that does - you'd do time for it. Obviously, you'd need an engineers approval too.

I am not sure that you need engineers approval in all states for a narrowed beam?
MMM will have to look into that.
Anyone have an idea of how beetle go on Type 3 engines?
Is this a common conversion? Or will it be a bit difficult down the track?

Never heard of a Beetle running a Type 3 engine.
Didn't know it was even possible/worth the effort.

My 1970 beetle also has a similiar size engine, and has been lowered. So I would say go for it!
If it doesnt have too much rust, and the engine is in good condition anything under say $5000 for that car should be a bargain.
More power is great, but it uses more fuel than a stock car.
With a car that low you will scrape more often unless you are careful, so check it will be able to get in your driveway.
It NSW the engine, lowering, and steering wheel would need an engineers certificate.
Have the brakes been upgraded? They should have been with that engine.
People sometimes get knocked back for rego with the nudge bars instead of the proper bumpers too

This is why you narrow your beam.
I thought it was obvious!
