A great place to work out just how different tyre sizes compare AND calculate the difference they make to the speedo is:

I realise I'm a bit late to the party, but let's revive the thread anyway! After a bit of experimentation I've found my ideal tyre and rim combo.
Absolutely no rubbing whatsoever on full lock or suspension travel.
14x6" widened steels, I believe that the fronts are a set of the old "Type 3" offset, done by ROH. The rears are a wider offset by about 25mm,
traditionally the "Beetle offset", home-made back in the day.
Tyres are 195/65R14 all round, Sumitomo HTR-200s. They give excellent grip and only cost a smidgen over $100 a corner from my favourite tyre shop.

But you'd need an oxygen mask to ride that high, surely? ;-)
Nah, each to their own and all that, but if you're running a monster-truck square I doubt you'd get any rubbing with the body way up there.
Meanwhile, how do you find the undersize tyres, re engine/box performance?

I like these Porsche Cayenne wheels. 7,5x17 with 215/35 for the rear, and narrowed -to 6,25J- 17" fronts with 165/40x17 Nankangs. Saw these on

Lol, it's only stock height! Believe it or not I use nearly all of the ground clearance on a daily basis getting up and down my driveway, as although
it is paved it's far from being level. And it was handy on New Year's Eve driving through the scrub on a mate's property down to a campsite on the
banks of the Murray. Oh, and in terms of rubbing, the tall skinny rims that the car came with rubbed! I'm pretty sure they were 4" Beetle rims
though, so not the proper offset, and with 165/80R15s on.
195/65R14 is actually barely undersize at all, about 3% last time I checked, so it's just like stock. 195/70R14 is just about perfect but you can get
much grippier tyres in the 65 series profile and they handle a bit better too.

yeah I know, I had one of mine stock height for off/bad road action/camping...was like a lifted 4WD in comparison to my city rides. Funny how
perception changes so quickly...with the help of a few thousand pics of lowered dubs around the 'net! That Beetle Vs Type 3 wheel offset does make a
difference. Nice ride BTW.
