[FS - TAS] Type 3 Soft Top Unfinished Project (not mine)

I had a look at this yesterday after it had been advertised in the local paper for a couple of weeks. The project is too big for me to tackle, but I thought some other members might be interested as there are more than a few Type 3 fans (me included) around. I mentioned to the owner that he might get a better response putting it up on a forum like this, so I offerred to put it up for him. I am NOT the seller.

I am not affiliated with the owner at all, so please don't ask me for further details. The owners contact details at at the bottom of the post.

I took a few photos with my camera phone, so here they are:

The owner, Michael started the project about 10 years ago, but lost interest. It looks like all the structural reinforcing work has been done to the body, and there is a reinforced floopan that comes with the car. All the new steel work has surface rust as it's been sitting out in the carport for the last 10 years. There are two of everything as he used two vehicles for construction, except there is no motor.

Here is the ad:

"VW, Type III Fastback

Unfinished project, cut down for soft top, no motor, offers. 0418 131 271/03 6398 1027"

I tried to pin him down on a price, but he wouldn't give one. I think he just wants to get rid of it so he can build a shed where the carport is.

He has some correspondence with Transport from 1995 about engineering, but I would assume it would need doing again.

Anyway, it would be a pretty good project, and he's a nice guy. If this posting breaks the rules regarding 'for sales' then pull it off by all means, no skin off my nose. Just thought some of might be interested (even just to look at the photos)

Cheers,

Paul
