early beetle and early kombi h/lights - same?

I'm just curious, are early beetle and early kombi headlights the same?

As far as taking a set from one to the other will they fit straight in, or is it just the chrome surrounds that are different in the mounting points and need to be swapped over, or are they totally different units all together?

Thanks
Michael

Hi,
the chrome and the headlamp itself are identical

but the glass lens is actually fluted sideways for the type 2s..

the glass lens is fluted vertical for beetles...

the kombi type 2 lenses are much rarer than the beetles

so You will see the odd VW Beetle lens in a kombi now and then...

so they are interchangeable

but not legal... in the wrong vehicle

ah ok, good to know its just the glass fluting direction, I wouldn't be using the lense anyway, so thats not an issue...

Thanks Lee

Kombi rims have a drain hole on one side mid length. Bettles rims do not have this. This makes the Kombi surounds sided as well (hole goes to the bottom when assembled/mounted)
