Day of the Volkswagen - VW Club Victoria Winners list and Feedback

Hi all, just though I would post up the trophy winners list from the DotVW - Vic.

First up tho on behalf of the VW Club Vic I wanted to thank all who attended the DotVW last Sunday and made it the successful and enjoyable day that it was. The weather was kind, not too hot or sunny, the VW's of all types and classes were top class. Extra big thanks to the interstaters that made the huge trek across from Sydney, Adelaide and even Brissie.
And big thanks also to our volunteers, sponsors and traders present that worked hard all day. These events run on volunteers so you need a crew you can rely on.

Major stats for the day
Shine and Shine Entrants - 217.
Spectators thru the gate - 850 (odd)
More swappers than last year. (lots more)

So to the trophy winners and grinners. Note the runner up is listed first and winner second. Also shows the sponsor. Just how its cut and pasted off the sheet sorry.
Also note no Modified Bay Window Kombis
entered at all. So we took that trophy home?? Were were they all?

They did a quick squirt thru the traders area after most went home. Sounded great, wish I could have got it on video.

I think there should be a trophy for best organization of show.

I would like to personally say that the effort everyone puts in to make that show so successful is fantastic.

But the biggest pat on the back award goes to Dean Holden. Your enthusiasm and organization makes the day what it is. Being that I have been in Deans position years ago as a DOVW organizer I know the amount of work involved both on the day and the 12 months leading up to it. The new ideas I saw this year made the show unique to the previous years and I was quite impressed in how clockwork the day ran. I know Dean would say it wasn't all smooth sailing but from a spectators eye it ran great. Its people like him that make these great shows run well and turn out successful. Well done mate. Looking forward to the next year!

I just can't understand how you stay calm all day? That really perplexes me?

Cheers mate. I was crapping myself on the inside during the morning. The rain threating after all the cars were parked on that grassy hilside was worrying me a lot. But it all worked out:cool:

Yeah, special award to Dean,
the show was very well organised so many people putting in so much work everywhere you looked, & it all seemed to run like clockwork

Was indeed a great day. Thanks to all involved. Second year for me and was much better than last year (last year was too HOT!). I thought the layout was much better and I enjoyed not having to walk all the way down the hill to see the Kombis this year.

Only suggesting would be to invite one or two more caterers......it was along and hungry day if you wanted somethng other than Hot Chips and Coke....maybe set them up in that grassy bit where the Karmens were this year so families and the like can have good rest, chat, and munch in the shade.

Thanks again. I'll be driving the bus down next year.

Cheers

We really enjoyed our time at the DotVW07 (even if I did have to leave my '63 bug at home on the Gold Coast :( )

The show appeared very laid back and from a spectators point of view, was a very well polished event - even my wife, who usually can only hold her interest in VW shows for about 2 hours max, spent the whole day there and enjoyed it.

I will start making plans to get the bug to the 2008 event.. when is it on?

Well done also to all the trophy winners - I don't envy the judges - there were many, many very nice vehicles on display - I wouldn't have wanted to have had to choose the winners!
