Fuel Tank mishaps
Hey Crew.
What is the asiest way to fix four small holes ranging from 1mm-4mm round?
Bought one of those fuel tank/radiator repair kits (dotheywor?k) but waiting on the fuel to evaporate from tank.(allDay)
Can i get it silver soldered while it is still on the car?
Options???
Ahh yeh how does one remove the inner drive shaft cap; the one behind the plastic cover?
While i was sussing the speedo cable this morning(exit hole in cap has slop) i noticed a shine on the fuel tank? Thats it; thats how it all
started.....
What a day.....
Cheers
Andrew

easier to get it soldered whilst off the car... as you may have to clean some solder out of the tank afterwards.
make sure you clean the tank really well to get the petrol residue out.. i washed mine out several times and let it dry for a few days before getting
some welding and soldering done on it.

Is this your syncro? Dropping the tank is a transmission out job I believe. Roadworthy guy reckons mine has a leak but i can't find one. It's in
being worked over at the moment. I'm praying there is no leak.
My tank is plastic too.

NAH not Syncro daily driver, Caravelle. So heres my resolution drained tank , dried tank 2days, used petrol/rad fix kit local servo sort of like
liquid steel. Then after 12 hrs of setting, too make sure i added a thick layer of Arayldite(spellcheck). Seems to have stopped the leak even if it is
for a short time just need to get chrissi out of the way. Yes Arayldite will eventually be eaten away. Remembered this trick with an old bultaco i
owned after cracking the throttle cable cap off top off carbi and that one lasted for 3months.
Heres hoping
Plastic tanks dont leak/crack unless they are left dry for some time and then become brittle. Now thats a job. Ahh the joys of syncro ownership; i
have now put off finishin him until after chrissi, bloody kids needing pressies and all that
