rockers -spacers
Im putting together an old 1835. Ive had the heads resurfaced for a good seal, one was corroded so a had another one machined up. From memory the
new one had to have about 8mm fly cut out to make them the same. The ports are stock and I CC'ed them at about 42.5cc.
Heads are back on, put the rockers on and damn it the adjusters are already at their max I still need close to a millimetre to get them with in
tolerences. I originally thought the push rods were stock. I dont have another one to compare it to, but I now suspect its been shortened and by to
much.
Can I machine the rocker mounting blocks to bring it back down to the right height? Or do I need push rods that I can trim down eg Empi, if so how
much.

better off with another set of pushrods..........
machining (or spacers) on the rocker "pedastal" will effect the geometry of the rockers on the valve tips. pushrod to rocker geometry will also be
outa wack
around $80

Hi
Make yourself an adjustable pushrod so that you can get the correct size pushrod made. You can fit a spacer under the rocker posts, but you can only
go a small amount before it all turns bad.
To make an adjustable pushrod, get an old stock one. Cut it about 25 mm from the end, then cut another 25 mm off the long piece of pushrod that you
have left over. Drill and tap each peice to 6 mm, then get a piece of 6mm threaded rod about 50 mm long, screw it into the short bit of pushrod untill
stops, attach the long part of the pushrod, now you have an adjustable pushrod.

Yeah I thought as much, I've read it in the 'How to hotrod a Volkswagen'
This budget motor has cost me more than the car. I was hoping it could have a budget fix.
