You are Lucky, as the wiring in an oval is minimal...
and easy for anyone with knowledge of VW wiring..
Are You a member of Club Vee Dub?

hey fellas,
I ended up having a go at rewiring the car myself, not as difficult as i thought but still a BIG PAIN in the bum.
I was wondering if anyone knows how i can test that all is ok without an engine as i don't have one in at the moment.
Is there a way of running it straight off the battery or will it work the way it is if i plug the battery in.
any help or tips would be much appreciated.
Cheers Zee

Hi
Are you on Wollongong road? Seen a 2 tone bug getting built plus a Oval in that area.
Just hook up a battery to the system and then plug a test light into the circuits you need to test. Don't use a multi meter, you need the resistance
that a test light produces for proper testing.

Hey steve,
Cheers for the tip so far everything seems ok.
As for the bugs, yes the oval is mine and the two tone belonged to a friend across the road, he moved to tassy and took the thing with him.

Thanks for the offer!
I had a go at it and just finished testing everything. Seems like it is all working so far. Still trying to make the semaphores and indicators work
off the same switch, i think i figured it out, im trying to have the semaphores stay up while the blinkers are on.
I will have a crack at it tomorrow. too tired.
Once again thanks for the offer, much appreciated.
Cheers zee

I wired a morris minor so the semaphores stayed up while the blinkers were on, I think I used two relays to make it work. I can't remember the
details as it was about 25 years ago.

You can run the semaphores off the indicator stalk and use the same two wires Black/green & black/white and use two indicator relays to run your
other lights. I can also modify semaphores so they can flash with the rest of your lights.

that sounds like something worth looking into! would you need to run separate power to the light and a separate line to the semaphore itself?

You use existing wiring to semphore, when you look at the wiring inside the semaphore you will find ther are to wires soldered together at the top
screw terminal. Carefully remove wire from terminal, take off the grey sleave and you will notice two wires soldered together. One is for the coil the
other to the light. I put the wire for the light on the lower terminal and the coil wire back to the top terminal. Make sure you insulate the tab
which makes cotact with the pin that makes cotact with it when fully open. Know at your speedo remove the indicator light which will have two blue
wires conected , run them to your separate indicator relays for your semaphores to flash. If this is to difficult for you, i can modify them for you .
