Electronic Ignition (VOLVO )

Has any one tried this? Using a Volvo 244 distributor in their VW. It is a SVDA style distributor and appears to use the same size vacuum canister as the VW SVDA dizzy. It uses the same rotor and cap as the 009. I've shown it here modified beside a 009.

Volvo, Magna and Ford ignition modules (all Bosch)

I'll try the volvo module first, but the magna or ford module should work as they use the same basic system.

Hi

Nice work. Its always best to match the dizzy to the module, the middle one looks like its from an old Sigma.

Hi

I cant remember the technical name but the Sigma used an older style electronic ignition. Those Sigma modules did have a cool feature, they had an electronic retard at high RPM.

yep - have heard about this conversion before - but in my case the advance feature of the Volvo dissy was to be removed as the EFI ECU looked after that part.

I think that the dissy out of the later 240 Volvo was designed for ECU controlled ignition advance, therefore avoiding the need to mod the 244 dissy....

I am running the sigma electronic ign. on my 1641 turbo. I have all the part numbers if you need them. Mod is fairly simple.
