Retractable seat belts
Just chasing some advice on retractable seat belts for my Fasty. Picked up a Klippan belt but it doesnt fit in gap beside base of back seat . Is there
any brand that would fit straight in without modification? Cheers Matt

Matt, not sure what size Klippan is but I used Kangol from XJS Jaguar and wouldnt say its small. If its only a matter of cm or two you can very easily
massage the metal base rear seat section. I used a hammer over the carpet and pushed it back plenty to allow for the retractable.
Have you done a search as Iknow someone with a Type 3 put up some pics. Will try and find.

i had a similar problem , but i had no captive nut n plate in the heater channel . so basically i cut one out of a wagon i was wrecking and
repositioned it so it would fit. Yeah that probably doesn't help much as you would have to drill out spot welds that hold the plate in and
reposition it , another option is to use an angle bracket similar to what bay window kombis use to mount the seatbelt

I used ones from a late beetle and had to massage the metal as well, I think it would have been a little smaller than the Jag unit

There was a conversion plate available with two holes offset. One to screw to standard mount position and the other to mount the retract assembly.
Worked great. Maybe check out Vintage or Volksbahn re availability. I actually copied one and made them from 3mm 316 stainless steel but isn't on
present car so can't measure.

Found it. 73t3Fastback was the person who sent me pics many months ago. Not sure if he is still on the forum but he did a retractable and helped me
out.

Seatbelt in !
Thanks all for help, seat belt is in, working well. "Persuaded" rear wall to move about 2cm as per advice and belt fitted fine. Many thanks Matt
