WTB - 2 by 15x7 Fuchs with 49mm offset
Hi there,
I'm after some 15x7 Fuchs with 49mm offset for the Porsche brake conversion I'm doing on my bug, cos unfortunately my current 23mm and 36mm offset
ones will alter the track too much for rego.
The part numbers for that size and offset is 901.361.012.05.
If anyone has any they'd be prepared to part with, pls shoot me a pm or e-mail me at davesidery@hotmail.com

Hi
They were on a 911R, might be rare. I'm not sure about Qld, but in NSW if you widen or even narrow your track mechanically by fitting different
suspension parts yopu are allowed a wider or narrower track.
This what the NSW RTA say
"Where non original axle or suspension crossmember components are fitted, the offset of the wheel in
relation to the axle or stub axle assembly used shall not be increased by more than 12.5mm each side
of the vehicle based on the specifications of the axle components used. If an axle assembly is shortened
then the track width limit is taken as the axle manufacturers original track dimension, less the amount
the assembly has been narrowed, plus 25mm. If you are contemplating fitting non original axle or
suspension components you should seek the guidance of an engineering signatory as an engineering
certificate will be required (see below)."

Yeah - I know it's kind of a big ask, but I thought no harm in trying !!!

My fallback will be to go phone dials with factory spacers milled down.
So far according to the doco that Qld Transport has the most you can go is +26mm on the track, and haven't gotten an answer yet about how changing
suspension components themselves affects things. I have a couple of engineers I'll try asking though, so will update if I find out any more info !!!

In NSW we have the same +26 mm on the track increase rule, hopefully you can dig up the same sort of document up there relating to changing
components. What sort of Porsche brake upgrade did you do?

Hi Steve,
The plan started off pretty simple, and really just follows what's up on GermanLook.
Front: 944 NA hubs that I'm going to put bearing cups into to take beetle disc bearings, and then fab up caliper brackets to mount
up the 4 pot Brembos from a 951 (several friends with lathes and mills etc. who'll help out)
Rear: I've got basically the whole rear suspension out of an early 944 NA, so going to use backing plates, hubs, rotors and ebrake
from that with 4 pot Brembos again (with appropriate spacers to center over the rotor properly)
Haven't done anything much with the front yet, but over the weekend I trial fitted the rears onto my existing arms and it'll work nicely... other
than the rear track change of course.
I've got 4 weeks till the first event of the season, so hopefully I'll get it all sorted in time.

Hi Dave
Do you need the special wheels for the front or back, back I'm guessing. I fitted 944 steel arms to my daily 1303 and used 17x7 55ET wheels and they
fit nicely under stock guards. Are you running wider guards?
I'm just fiddling around with my other 1303 at the moment, I'm using 944 NA alloy arms as well, but I'm using Aero guards all round so I have a
little more room to play with.
Friends with lathes & milling machines are very nice to have, it also helps if they understand cars.

Hi Steve,
Yeah - it's for the rears. I've got wider rear guards, but using them would mean a class change for hillclimbing. Also can't use 16" or 17" rims
for the same reason - hence trying to find 15" rims with around 50 ET.
One of the guys definitely knows cars - he rebuilds and races pre-war cars, so understands all about mixing and matching unusual parts !!!

Bloody CAMS, I was just going to suggest that there is a Teledial in 16x7 with a 52ET which would be close, but 16s are no go. A friend of mine bought
part of the Simmons wheel business, he does all the old stuff, he could make a set to suit you but I'm sure about costs,
