Complaining about the fuel prices in OZ?
Hi
I just got an email from an ex pat living in Munich with the cost of the fuel over there.
"Prices in Germany are currently around:
Standard: Euro 1.44 (95 RON) = $2.39 AU
Super: Euro 1.46 (98 RON) = $2.43AU
Super Plus: Euro 1.51 (100 RON) $2.51 AU
Diesel: Euro 1.34 $2.23 AU
The Euro 1.46 cost of a litre of Super breaks down to:
Producers costs and profits: 57.2 cents (approx. 39%)
Petroleum and Environment Taxes: 65.4 cents (approx. 44%)
Sales Tax: 23.3 cents (approx. 16%) – in fact a tax on a tax
It looks as if Standard-Grade petrol is being phased out as it is the same or nearly the same price as Super-Grade."

UK's more expensive to diesel. £1.04 for a litre of petrol, £1.09 for diesel.
LPG's still cheap.....until everyone jumps on the bandwagon (like diesel) & then watch the govm't crack that up to match.

people do forget that in the uK and Germany wages are much higher to cover the higher cost of living.
petrol prices are high in Europe but we should stop converting prices into Aus $ as it doesnt add up.

Hi
That's a very good point. Maybe I should ask my friend in Munich what the average wage is? Maybe we could a Big Mac test and find out what they cost
in each country.

I haven't cried about the price of petrol since I was in Europe in 2001.
Paying 80p a litre with a 3:1 exchange rate meant we were paying the equivalent of $2.40 a litre.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

When I left London 20 years ago I was earning more in pounds then than I am in dollars NOW. Petrol was the same in pence per litre as it was in cents
per litre (approx 35cents/pence per litre). The exchange rate was $2.54 to the pound. My wages in that twenty years has only crept up by around fifty
per cent but petrol has increased around 200%. Include the addition of three kids into the equation Just to put it all in perspective though I know where I'd rather be and it's not London
