Hi luke,
you can have this one if you like, it is a "Portarack" brand
it needs suction caps, the legs are 37" apart across the car & 39" along the car, the clamp legs are adjustable
$60 , I was gonna advertise it soon, but, I will hang on to it for a while if you are interested

news flash, unfortunately my rack does not fit beetle as the legs are too short to allow the cross bars to fit across the domed roof, the rack would only fit a type 3
sorry

Yes you can fit it to a beetle,all you need to do is extend the legs by about 110mm.I used an old leg of a steel chair and remove the Washer stopper from the rack and slid the extended peice on and used a self tapper to secure.Its been on my car for about a year and I have had a few good size loads on it without any trouble.Just quitley I paid a lot more than that for mine.

I've got this one up for grabs. Needs 2 new suction caps (I checked, Clark Rubber stock them), and only has one side clamp. Never used because I never had the 2nd side clamp, and bought a different rack instead :D I bought it for $50, make me an offer (im moving soon and want to clean up). I can get some more pics of it if you want.

Alternatively keep an eye on ebay. I got this one for $40 a couple months ago. The cross bars had to be bent to suite the roof profile, I just turned it upside and bounced them into submission! there was one of these on ebay recently, within the last month.

Sorry mate, I use it pretty regularly to move things like bikes and kayaks - it isnt just for show! In the last 2 weeks I've moved:
* Mountain bike
* stretch beach cruiser bike
* 2 bookcases from Ikea
* Single bed bedhead
* 4m + long kayak (its longer than the bug!)
* a set of bar stools
* vintage metal storage chest
* christmas tree

I moved house :lol: But yeh, it gets used every couple of weeks so I dont want to sell it, sorry.
