THE SHED: alast under way

Howdy peoples.

Well after 5 months in council and other dramas with the council the shed at last.

The Bobcat and the concretor arrived 630am this morning.

By 930 the bobcat was done and the guys started to weave the magic.

It is now 4.24pm and they have just left.

It looks great.

So here are some photo's.

You won't know how you managed beforehand once all that's done. In the long run that ba#*ard neighbour has done you a favour. It's made your life easier and although you've had to put your hand in your pocket your house value would've gone up!

Need to know, in your area does the council need to do an inspection before concrete goes in, damned good organising if they do.

The shed is 7.6 x6m and the carport is 6x6m which is a total area of 13.6m x6m

Hi again

The council does not have to inspected before the concrete is poured. From what I understand because it is a shed no inspection is needed.

Stacking 2 high what a great idea. Hmmmm !!!!!

Very lucky to have a good sized backyard, it is an old area so the block sizes are very good.

Working on the cars will be a lot better, lots of shade, plus we have a nice area for BBQ's as well. We decided to spend the money because it makes it easier to work on the cars and improves the house value. Well worth it I think!

At least now I can work on the cars without next door saying I am running a business and I can hide some stuff in there as well.

We were thinking way back in May when we ordered the shed which way to go 13.6 m shed or half and half, she who must be obeyed wanted the carport, I liked the idea as well it gives you a shady area to work as well as in the shed.

The guys did a great job! There were only two blokes doing all the concreting, so they worked very hard.
The plan is that the cars in waiting will go down the side of the carport and won't be seen except by the guy behind us, who often has a chat over the fence about what we are working on.

The slab is quite thick around all edges and at the join between the carport and the shed. It is 250mm thick and 350mm wide on the edges and the rest is 110mm thick with a 5mm fall from the centre to the edges on all of the slab and a brush finish.

Vw54 you are right by the time I put everything in it I will be screaming for a bigger shed.:smilegrin::smilegrin:

Hmmmmmm front yard is empty............ Kaaaaaattthhhhhhh!!

Good to see the shed started, you know what makes me laugh is that getting your shed built and having a skidsteer in at 630 am and the cement truck making a lot of noise, probably upset the neighbour too, some neighbours need to relax and keep their nose out of other peoples business.

Damo.

Your dead right Damo.

I am hoping that when they come to erect the shed itself they make a lot of noise!!!!!!.

We are hoping that they will start sometime next week and Titian said it should only 2 or 3 day to erect.

Howdy
the main sewer line runs 2 m from the fence line from left to right in the picture and you can't build within 2m of the pipe so it had to be 4m of the fence line.

We were going to put it closer to the fence but can't.

Ive actually started my own problems with the council as im in the process of organising an approx 18m x 8m shed/garage.

Will take a while and most likely cost a bit but will be well worth it when its done.

Here in WA it's legal to build an open carport type structure over the sewer easement as long as you get permission from the sewerage authority.

I had a similar situation with my shed. I had to keep the permanent structure away from the sewerage easement, but I could build an open car port with a non-poured concrete floor over the easement.

I submitted plans for mine to the council with a nice big rubber stamp from the water board and a reciept for the fee and they permitted it.

The water boards attitude is if you build a permitted structure over the easement and they need access to work on the pipes, then any damage that they do to your building is your problem and no compensation will be paid to you.
