Nick, i agree, too low shouldn't register, but i will eat my own words. I'm the guy that laughs quietly when the lowered MR2 or skyline scratches
itself over the various speed humps through Mcdonalds (i know, i shouldn't be at Mcdonalds in the first place).
Looks good low, but worried of how practical it will be.
On that note, does anybody run any aftermarket shocks for lowered front ends? not much travel left in my koni's at the moment.
Recommend brand or type?

More pics.
I got some seat belts in, quite easy when you have semi-phore slots to use.

The way you do it is by using a plate and slidding it up the semi-phore slot. If you tack weld on some weld wire you can use it to slide the tapped
plate up and down to get your bolt through.
in the first photo you can see where the bolt is coming through. In the last photo you can see the weld wire used to position the plate.
Remeber though, roof lining still needs to go in, so don't break off the weld wire until the pillar upholstery is in.

One of the next things i want to do is get the roof lining and pillar upholstery in. Does anyone have photos of their installation of roof and pillar
upholstery? I want to custom make it using some foam on the roof but i need to know how all the bits go.
Would appreciate it if people could post photos of their roofs, even better if they have the same shape shell as mine.
If anyone had used foam on the roof aswell and had photos, that'll be tops. Nothing worse then getting it wrong and starting again, let alone the
wasted material.

Any luck with roof photos guys? Need to work out which bits overlap etc. Im sure people have upoholstery on their beetles!
Anyways, the engines out and has gone roadtripping to an engine builder in Coffs (hint hint). Hopefully i will be able to fire her up in the next
month or so.
I got lucky actually cause my mates brother was down from Coffs on the weekend, just in time to take it up for me (with some petrol money). He drives
a corolla, so we shoved it in the back seat! Love the vw engines, they fit anywhere. Another way is to pull out your passenger seat in your beetle and
it will fit right next to you. Not the safest but hey, depends how desperate you are.

i also brazed on a larger fitting to the bottom of my fuel tank to increase my fuel pump flow rate. I will mount the pump under the fuel tank on some
rubber mounts that way it wont vibrate through the car.
I also ordered a relay for the fuel pump. The way it works is that when you turn the car on the pump runs on a set timer (internal on the relay) and
then stops. After that it runs only off your tacho, so the idea is that the pump only runs when the engine is running, otherwise if you crash and your
accessories are still on, the pump will continue to pump fuel into the engine bay, so if theres a fire you're in trouble.
Should hopefully be easy enough to wire-up.

Had some time on the weekend to get things done.
First up is the set of stainless steel bumpers i bought. Now, i must say im not 100% happy with them but i think they pass at doing the job. The
over-riders that came with them are also pressed steel not s/s. Im not sure how long the chroming on the over-riders will last. I also tried to fit my
original over-riders on and they are too big for the bumpers, so i think the shape is a little smaller than the original.
In saying all that, they look good and are s/s, so i guess im happy enough.

i got the bits to go with powder-coated, as well as my seat brackets. You can see the top of the seat brackets so i thought i'd get them done. My
prep work wasn't 100% but it really didn't need to be.

i did a mock up fit of the bumpers and the blinkers. I must say i hate blinkers, they destroy the look of these cars.

i p;layed around some more with the blinker bracket so that i could really hide it as much as possible. Pretty happy with it in the end. I had to
modify the bracket insert bits to fit the bracket it and out of the way.

THey tell me the pillar blinkers aren't legal any more, unless the car is original i believe. Some idea as seat belts. Sucks really.

Started work on the upholestry. Im going for velour headliner with no seams. Used some foam to flaten out the roof and to add some cushioning and
sound deadening. Its a tops products, there's to sides to the foam and it really flattens and smooths the finish.

Going to use the same idea but thinner foam for the rear quarter panels and back window.
Decided we weren't going to use the original upholestry tabs and will use a pinch weld instead. Should be interesting when its done, at least
different to original. We're kind of making it up as we go, but so far so good.

A bit of an update, done lots lately and will post pics as i get and download them. THe pic below is a sneak preview and will be as much as i show of
the interior for now. I'm aiming to get everything done by the VW Nats and don't want to spoil the surprise. The edging and gear boot are all in
'oyster' leather, looks the goods! The photo was taken with flash so its a little bright.
Enjoy

You may enjoy these photos. I cut these in for easy access to carbie adjustments. I'll need to make a cover panel to stop stuff shooting in but i
reacken it will save me huge amounts of hassles when the pilots block up.
I was inspired by CT's effort.

the austrian superbug rally cars used to have their dry sump oil tanks mounted in exactly the location of those holes. Imagine that! Not my choice but there you go.
I trust that car is going to get driven properly.
BTW, try clark rubber. they have rubber bungs in all sorts of sizes.

Installed a 'Craig Torrens Special' kafer bar on the weekend. Looks tops, yet to really belt it to see how it goes, though initial tests are
good.
Finally got enough k's on the Pobjoy to do a service and start thrashing it around. Still needs some fine tuning on the carbies, but so far, i'm
enjoying it very much (grin on my face says it all).
I'll try and get some footage once i get round to it, and once it gets a little warmer and dryer.
