Painting magnesium - bubbles
Does anyone out there know how to paint magnesium componets in such a way that it doesn't allow the magnesium to breath so much that it creates
bubbles under the paint??? |

yes i believe that you have to chemically treat the surface B4 you apply the paint
at Qantas we used to apply some chemicals to new machined surfaces which bonded into the surface of the magnesium i think it was called Iridite or
something like that talk to your local electroplating shop itsa similar process to anodising
It would also help if you wash the parts down with Kero then degreased with some acetone then even baked the item at 100 D C fora while to bake
out all the surface abnormalities

Thanks for that vw54. I have spoken to a mob that does ceramic coating but they say they can't do it. Is ceramic coating the same as anodizing? |
