had the root canal f*up. went to the dentist the thursday before
easter friday. the dentist did not clean the root out properly and the pain was the worst of my life. could not sleep, could not talk, was hard just to
think! managed to get on to a emergency dentist on the friday and he drilled a hole in the tooth to release the pressure(puss filled goe)and the pain
dropped down to a panadol manageable level. the dentist and I had words on the tuesday and I got the whole job done for nicks.

Nurse wanted me to eat some custard? No thanks.. bout 2 weeks later it still looked rather ugly but finally stopped hurting, couldnt eat properly and
should have just left them in coz they werent hurting anyway!
New rule, dont go doctors or dentist unless in life threatening pain!!

When i go to the dentist I get all work done under a general now...or with the help of mogadon (given when i arrive) to make me drowsy and not so
stressed. I'm the type that crys in the damn waiting room...and im not even in pain.
All because a few years back I had a wisdom pulled in the chair (part broke) Six needles, and I was still in pain...why??? cause they tore my
tongue n cheek apart when they tried to pull out the last piece of the wisdom tooth. two stitches in the side of my tongue, one on inside of my
cheekl n two where the tooth used to be. Nothing to chew for over a week it was so bad. And that was with pain killers!
Try that just for kicks.
cheers

OH MY GOD... so not what i wanna hear right now!!!!
I'm going to the dentist on Valentines Day to get fitted for a crown. FRIGGIN $1300 for a tooth. Jesus, they certainly see you coming don't they?
Then i've got to go back on the 25th to get it fitted. The next thing i'm booked in for is my wisdom teeth. These babies should have come out 5
years ago, but this wuss keeps putting it off. The pain and jaw clicking is getting a bit much, as they are growing side ways into the teeth in
front.
After reading Rob and Donna's i'm scared S**TLESS!!!!

thats a ripoff Ash..
a friend of My wife had a toothache last week and went to some Emergency dentist out of town..
they gave her a tempory filling and said she had to come back and get a crown.. for $3000..
She then went to the Scone dentist and got the crown for $300-00
a BIG saving....
I did also go to the dentist for a 2 hour appointment last week
I kept My eyes shut all the time....
and I agreed to have the needles...
and I didn't even feel one needle...
Excellent dentist...
and I don't have to go back... Ha Ha...
only cost about $300

yeah i think i must of had root canal on different teeth about 10 or so times
the only think is it ends up saving the actual tooth so you can then spend more money and have a crown fitted
the crown is much better than a denture in my opionion but more expensive as well
sometimes it may be better to pull the tooth than suffer the pain

I had all four wisdom teeth removed in one session at my local dentist. They recommended going to hospital for it, or atleast only 2 teeth at a time.
That was the worst pain in my life afterwords. Watching my blood splatter on the dentists face guard was a bit nausiating. As I was leaving, another
women who was going to get a wisdom tooth removed, looked really frightened after she saw my swollen face.
Thats not rust, it's ah ... orange primer ... yep that's what it is ...

I hate the dentist.
A couple of years back I had a tooth removed that the roots didnt go straight down, one of them curled in and under the jaw bone, so they had to
remove part of bone to get the tooth out..of course this was disovered half way through the job..so he gives me an extra needle..I hate needles too-
they make me faint- so after heaps of chipping away and pulling, it finally comes out. I go home, lay down and after about an hour, start having chest
pain. I felt like I was having a heart attack!! Call the ambulance- get taken to hospital - monitored and find out my oesophegus went into spasms -
which feels like a heart attack but doesnt kill you!! LOL- very scary but so glad it was over.
If root canal therapy means you will keep your teeth - then do it. You don't want dentures - they suck bigtime.

I haven't been to a dentist in about 13 years. Never even had so much as a filling. The only pain I have ever experienced was the bill.

I had root canal done on a tooth 15 years ago and its still going good no probs touch wood. But it did bloody hurt when she pulled the root out I
needed another needle, don't you love it when your sinking further in the chair to get away and they ask can you feel that. I hate needles. I have
to have my eyes closed the whole time so I can't see the scarry things they are going to put in my mouth. I have the same female dentist for the
past 20 odd years I don't know what I will do when she retires. As its very hard to find an ok dentist that doesn't want to rip you off.

I had root canal and had a snooze whilst they did it. No gas or anything, he was just a very good dentist. It helps when the assistant is a bit of all
right. I wouldn't recommend getting a tooth pulled if you can have root canal, as over time the space left from the pulled tooth can effect your
spacings in your mouth.
I remember when I was 10 or 11, I had to have some second teeth pulled by the orthodontist as my teeth where coming in as fangs - no space at all. I
freaked and the dentist chased me around the surgery with the needle swearing at me. The next week when we rescheduled they told mum to give me these
two tablets about 2 hours before my visit. Not sure what they were, but I promptly passed out in class before I got to leave school. Funny
that....that afternoon the surgery was successful the second time around.

yeah...prolly mogadon squiz.
Used on kids every where.... makes them drowsy ..and also has the effect of the person not remembering everything. AJ recently had to have two
crowns, as he suffers horrendous enamel decay. Its heredity. All my nephews have it.
Anyway with the mogadon AJ has it in liquid form, as do I, about 30 minutes to an hour before the appointment. Can only be taken at the surgery, and
then u are moved to a chair when u begin to feel drowsy. That way u dont fall over. (AJ did this first time he had it...thats funny to see. Think I
even taped it for his 21st (and don't panic...dad was holding him))
But if I need a few things done, I get a general. That way, I'm not awake freaking out at all.
And for the records...my new dentists are great. I've been going to them for approx 6 years now. Apparently they do alot of repair work ... caused
by the colleague down the road.

As for me... I cant see the point in delaying it... Had 2 wisdom teeth out at the Ipswich Hospital dentist on the tuesday, one on the friday and the
other one on the monday. They told me they wouldnt do all 4 at once. The little Asian women who took 2 out had her Knee on my chest.. funny as! Had
one of my back teeth out as i broke some of it off chewing on the eletrical connectors i was using fitting the sub's in kermit. It was $75 for them
to rip it out or $800 to fix..... I dont miss it.'
