dont you hate it when.....

was driving home yesterday and this elderly man in a barina pulls out from a side street in front of me... from the behaviour of his car he had no intention of giving way to me anyway.. so i had to slow from 60 down to 30 to stop from running into him... then he travels at 40 in the 60 zone!! WTF?? i look behind me and NOONE is there... so he could've waited for me to go past then pulled in behind me so that i wasn't slowed... but no.. so i have to put up with him dawdling up to the next roundabout where he accelerates into it and doesn't give way AGAIN and forces the person already in the roundabout to brake in order to miss him!!! i was just shaking my head at this.. the person he cut off was tooting and gesturing at him but off he went on his way at 40k's again but in a 70 zone....
what is it with people and the way they drive???
i always thought you SLOWED for intersections and sped up on the straight bits... lol

see.... air and water do mix ;)

Dont get me f***ing started! I love my bug, but it's damn scary and frustrating at times driving a 36 yr old beetle in Sydney traffic on a daily basis. I do just over 500km a week commuting.

Last week I got to drive home in the big storm we had. Driving rain, crappy wipers and standard beetle tyres aren't a great mix! At one stage I lost my brakes after driving through a deep pool of water, so had to drive nice and slow and use the brakes to heat them up to dry them out. Anyway, after the rain had lestened, I was driving along at 80km/h and this guy turned across right in front of me! Naturally I jump on the brakes in a big way, and I had a lovely sensation as I was understeering towards the side of this guys ute! I pedaled the brake a little to get some control, and the rear got a little loose as I came to a near stop near the offending ute. I didn't even have time to honk or anything...

Another time someone pulled out in front of me, going the same way as me. Luckily I was in my girl's hatchback, which handles much better than my bug. Anyway I jumped on the brakes in a big way but was still on a major collision course with the back of this Commodore. I had to swerve across the road into the oncoming lane (on a corner durig peak hour no less) to avoid the car. Had there been a car coming the other way I would have had to just run this car up the ass and hope for the best, there was nowhere else to go. I reckon I was doing about 60km/h (after slowing from 80km/h) when I reached the car, so it would have been a big hit.

And i've lost count of the number of 4WDs and SUVs that don't check their blindspots and just move over whilst you're next to them! The cars bright f***ing yellow! How much more noticeable does it have to be? And tail gaters seem to love the bug too. More than once I've been tempted to slam on the brakes and introduce them to my back bumper!

Another time, I had been stuck behind this guy for ages sitting 10kmh under the limit, and I usually sit on the limit. This one spot there is a roundabout, followed by an uphill overtaking lane, perfect spot to overtake him I thought. I get level with him, he looks over and sees a beetle overtaking him, so he puts his foot down. Now i dont need to tell you a standard 1600 beetle is no match for a modern car (particularly up a hill), so I struggle to keep up. He keeps looking over to make sure he's just ahead of me. We got up to 20km/h above the limit with him still trying to stay ahead of me, when the overtaking lane closed. When it did, he went back to sitting 10kmh under the limit again!

Yeah, know what you mean about not giving away, was in a cab in Gold Coast one night and this mad cabie of some other distant country just kept running red lights, when I couldn't handle the stress anymore I challenged him about his driving and all he could say is "by brother taught me to drive a cab and he said that this ok for cabies", next thing you know he leaves the big black lines so he can stop at a GREEN light, I totaly lost it about this time and asked in a nice gentle way what he was doing "my brother might be coming the other way" he says.
Betcha glad you hung round for that one.

Sometimes I feel like I've got invisible paint. Just every so often-not everyday!- for some unknown reason people just pull out in front of me, brake for no reason or just turn without using indicators. Just makes me angry and what's more I always think about the bloke who invented indicators and how he must be turning in his grave..all that thought into his invention and some bastard can't even be bothered to press a little lever:crazy:

unless your driving your dub, don't brake, just hit em. the police and the insurance company will sort them out. ;)

BTW, my pet hate is people who do 70 in 60 zones and then 70 in 80 zones. what the heck is that!
