Birdwood National Motor Museum

hey all,

if ever ur doing the touristy thing in adelaide up in the adelaide hills is the birdwood motor museum
definately worth a look
i checked it out a few months ago and was very impressed
im pretty sure its the largest motor museum in the country

The only VWs there at the time was the white 59 bug which was nice and original cept for crappy aftermarket front blinkers and 60s model taillights

and the telecom phone car from the 92 barcelona olympics was built on a 68 beetle

anyway heres my pics in a quick youtube vid
the quality of them sucks abit cos i had to take them on my mobile cos my digi cam batterys went flat but still worth a look

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIIYPUBo2y0

for the ppl with dial up heres the VW pics

Hi

I've went there a few years ago, I agree its worth the trip, there was an Oval on display when we were there. I saw a push bike hanging on the wall that was made by NSU (now part of VW via Audi), it was made a long time ago and had shaft drive with a crown wheel & pinion set up.

Yes
its well worth the trip...

You didn't mention the original clay model of the first Magna..
and the last Leyland Mini ever made in Australia...

plus a mass of other cars

I don't remember seeing any VWs at all...

the 59 beetle is very dirty under the guards...
with its 1960+ front blinkers and 1962+ tail lamps..
I couldn't see any trafficators...??

Some classics there for sure, a p76, now that was a car before its time, if you want a good read get onto a book (real old) called "A BOOT FULL OF RIGHT ARMS" by Evan Green, you wouldn't believe what a p76 could do, mind you I never thought I would see a Sigma in a museum.

Lee,
theres pics of all those cars (magna, dart etc) in my youtube video
that 59 bug had semaphores the housings were just white not black like original so its prob had a respray in its time and the front blinkers are aftermarket and had no chrome caps

there was a few prototypes there
the magna obviously but also the VN calais as well was one

i took heaps more pics but my vid would have gone on forever
