Thanks guys. I have about 10k worth of parts collected (quite - the wife might hear), plus the engine. So as soon as I get the body painted the assembly will start.

Are you painting the bug yourself or getting it professionally done?

Paulc,

If you look at page 2 of this thread, you will see that I have done the etch primer and high fill primer to all the hanging panels at this stage in my garage at home. These were done in February 2009 and I haven't really done much since then. I have carried out this work with the help of a friend whom is a spray painter. I am yet to spray the body, but then it will be going into an oven and being painted by an experienced sprayer.

I think thats a wise decision to get it professionally painted after spending so much time and effort on the prep works.

Can't wait to see the finished result

Well guys, I have this small update and especially since there are a few people on my back to get the car finished. As you will have seen on page 3 of how I want the car to look, the first small amount of paint has been laid. It's a 3 layer pearl (I think that's what he said) basically the same colour as the Ford Turbo XR5.

This is all that has been painted so far to give me an idea of how it will look. The rest of the car will start after these school holidays and will update as things happen.

Can only show you so many shots of the same panel. Dont want you to get sick of it already

Cheers, Kev

Hi all,

and thanks for the comments.

Greg, yes Ford is a four letter word beginning with F - Go to the top of the class :D

Mick, you could have used an F word also and said, Fark that is bright I need sunglasses :smirk:

Dave, Yes it is orange. Are you partial to the colour orange ;)

AT LAST (not yelling, just very excited).

Well guys the process has begun. Here is the first few photos of what is happening and I couldn't be happier. It has taken me 3 years to get to this stage and also a lot has happened in my life over these 3 years.
