69satellite - They are Recaro seats (Toyota Surf) and will have matching rear seat (material only - not shape).

One more photo with air filters and heater tubing.

Kev
Did You have any problems fitting the seats in...
I find the high back super bug seats I have only just fit in...

are you going to add sound proofing as i think You need it..
I know its a shame to have to cover some of that excellent paint job...

I used the PVE yoga mats , two layers over the roof and under the carpet over the engine bay [below the rear window etc..
and it doesn't weigh anything.. its also water proof...

The noise from the engine bay without any firewall padding etc will be extreme...

what oil cooler are You using?
doghouse or external?

cheers

LEE

Yes Paul, getting close. Pick the fuel tank up tomorrow, so hopefully start it on the weekend :smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin::smilegrin:

Lee, I made frames up that bolt to the Recaro seat and I welded that frame to the original seat runners. When you say yours just fit in, did you mean height or width (just PM if you want). Also I will be putting in sound proofing in the normal places which will be under carpet, roof lining etc - sorry Greg about this music, but I don't wear a helmet when I drive my car like some people :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Greg, you must drop in when down my way next time and have a look.

Thanks all, Kev.

Hi Camo,

I don't have the credentials that the other guys here undoubtably have, but I knows what I like when I see it ... and I like what I see here. :D:D:D

You are doing an excellent job, and I am very jealous. The Bug will be just awsome when its done, and I'm guessing we'll see it in the AVW Mag for sure.
And you thought you'd never do it.

Well done, you're an inspiration to us all and I hope you're proud of what you've done.

Cheers
Old Timer

Gee Old Timer, I think you may have put me a little to high up the ladder on that quote. But I really appreciate the kind words and also from others on this site.

As with a lot of car makeovers, it was never planned like this at the start. She was going to be redone original colour and even keeping the old 4 wheel drum brakes. I thought I would have it on the road in 6 months maximum and for under $8000 - SHIT, I was wrong on both counts big time (said quietly - as the wife might be listening).

I would be honored to see my car in a magazine, but that still has nothing to do with my build process. All I'm trying to do is build a nice street car that I will be proud of.

I don't think I will make the Nationals as there are so many small jobs still to do that take a lot of time and care. But I wont count it out, even if I take it there near finished on a trailer.

Thanks again, Kevin

Kev,

Don't do yourself an injustice as someone who has seen the car it is going to be a brilliant example of a Hot VW. I am only waiting for you to finish it so I can do a photo shoot and article for VWMA (if you agree)

Nice street car you would be proud of, that could be the understatement of the year. This is looking like a $h!t hot street car that any of us would be proud of.

I'm sure I won't be alone wanting to see this in the flesh at the nationals.

Keep up the good work kev!

Hi Ian,

replaced the red mounts with heavy duty originals and also same with steering coupling, wasn't worth taking a chance.

Also have a mid mount but will put that on when I can drive the car onto a hoist.

I'm very excited and even got some movement downstairs today.

No not me, the car downstairs in the garage :lol:

I moved the car under it's own power today for the first time in 3 years, I'm excited. I have steep driveway, so I'm glad the brakes worked and it had enough power to get back up the driveway.

Couple of outdoor photos for proof and a little video of the engine running.

Just changed the video to a youtube link, it may take a little while before you can see it now (hopefully not).
