94mm Bus pistons and barrels

im starting to get parts together to build a 2L t4 for my bus....

ive got a set of original pistons and barrels, used and one piston has hit a valve so is rubbish but...

Should i get these barrels honed and trued (rebored) and a new set of oversize pistons, or just get a new set of pistons and barrels?

what are cofap piston and barrel sets like?

thanks
Edward

I re-used my barrels and oversize pistons on my 2L. Still going strong after a few years. Can't say there's much of a saving over a full new set though.
I think Cofap is after market Brazillian. Not sure on quality as I have never used them, but they make a lot of VW parts.

I can highly recommend getting the heads and pistons crowns ceramic coated if the budget allows. Helps save the heads which can suffer from, well what happened to yours :)

If you get new pistons and cylinders can i buy the old cylinders off you? only if they are original vw and no fins missing.

Damo.

This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

what he said then flog off the old ones to Damo ,, there's not a lot of point in stuffing around with old barrels unless you are geared up to do so

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
