Peter, yes it will work on swing as well as IRS........................you would be suprised at how much the forks flex even in a standard beetle,
this will stop it.

I have asked before, but do you fellas know of any first hand experience of these things in an Offroad veicle either a Baja or Buggy...
Im thinking they could be helpful in the soft stuff like sand ect, but would they hold up. Though knowing me ill never get a chance to get off
road.
Oh by the way they look great!!

This kit will help with stopping the gearbox forks from flexing, this will most certainly occur in offroading.
And yes they will "hold up" with no problems
I will be fitting this kit to my buggy.

Hi Craig
Just wondering whether you had a chance to figure out a setup that would fit into a 54 oval?
The five bar is my preference.
cheers

yep, second batch is now ready.
I have had some changes made to the kit and will post some more photo's in the next day or so.
Marcus, yep it will fit a 54 beetle.
As for the cradle question, the new kits have tabs that you weld to the forks (front and rear braces) so ANY cradle could be used. You could also
weld the tabs to your own cradle if you wish.
The cradle pictured locates the gearbox in its original position, and is solid mounted. The cradle sells for $100 as a complete gearbox strap/cradle
kit, with mid section strap as well.
Cheers

Yeah well as soon as I have figured out how to read the instructions I will fit it up and take a picture or 3. Just not much room in the back of the
oval now the EG33 is in there, damn 6 cylinders I should have stuck with the EJ 22 Grrrr
Of well live and learn.

mmmm
Well I found a few spare minutes today to fit up one of Craig's 5 bar setups. This is in a 75 L Bug.
Went in without a hassle, everything fitted fine and the only thing I did differently was welded the rear tab to the cross member rather than the
frame horn.
As luck would have it the supplied tabs fitted this application perfectly.
Out of 10 I would have to give it 10 at this stage. It was shipped fast, packed well and supplied as specified. Fitted perfectly and the quality is
very good. Even with it just tacked in place it stiffens up the rear end.

Hi Brad
Looks good. Why did you keep the stock L bug mounts? They are crap, its an easy conversion to fit an earlier mount frame.

Why are the crap ??
I have pulled 3 of them apart in the last week and all where unbroken, the same can not be said for the stock style ones in that every bug I pulled
apart they were broken.
I will be running a Custom Vee Dub ( http://www.customveedub.com.au ) mid mount
transaxle strap as well to make sure the box stays where I want it.
I figure the kafer bar, the transmission strap and the larger front box mount will see the EJ stay put.
