Removing guide coat
I am getting my wheels resprayed and the panel beater has sprayed guide coat over the wheels for me to rub back and make sure all the imperfections
are gone. He has also sprayed the guide coat where the hubcaps cover and it is a real pain in the butt trying to get it off this area due to the
hubcap clips lug holes etc. My question is how much guide coat needs to come off for the top coat (2pac) to adhere properly to the surface or will
just aquick rub with 600 do it. Just trying to save afew hours of my time.

Hi Nicko, you can use a green scourer pad(wet soapy water) to rub most of it off. Try and get as much off as pos as the paint will adhere to primer
more than it will guide coat.

chances are painter will remove any left over guide coat with some 2k reducer as part of the wash down prior to applying topcoat.

the guide coat is there sowhen you rub it back you get the surfaces flat
the flatter it is the better the paint will look
theres no short cuts

where the hub cap covers, imperfections don't matter so much.
so using a scotch brite pad to key the surface is sufficient. it also removes guide coat. but is a lot easier on the hands.
i certainly would not recommend scotching the whole wheel though.
