Anyone cut down their front torsion springs
Hi all,
Have a link pin front end with the torsion springs. Have bought a 2 inch narrowed beam and was wondering how hard it will be to cut 2 inches off the
original springs. Is spring steel hard to cut. Have a large power hacksaw at work that may help or whats your thoughts on a large grinder with
cutting disc.

an angle grinder will do it nicely and 2 inches well i have been told an inch end and another says 2 inches any end so if ya do both ends remember to
weld one end before cutting as one end will be welded now hope that helps

You will need a cutting disc.
Easy to do once it is bolted in,
and all grub screws tight so they are held tight and in shape.

Please explain. Do you mean to weld the end that you are about to cut off ???? Not sure what you mean.

Do you mean to have the beam bolted to the chassis and then place the spring inside the beam with the extra 2" out one end and then cut off the over
hang ??

Yes cut off the over hang.
I hold my beam in the vice, but bolted to the car is good.

but if you narrow a beam the 'old' centre is still located in the same position as the 'new' centre, so with the torsion bars located in the
centre with the grub screw I would have thought that you would have 1 inch out each end ??
I've never done one before, so am I right in my thinking???

my springs are always welded on noe end sure saves a lot of time when you go to put them back the welded end goes straight in with no expansion
ro fit them than cut

yes, and redrill each end............
or cut two inches off, redrill centre and one end
