Inertia reel seat belts for '69 beetle
Hi Again,
The missus want inertia's in the bug. Next she'll want air cond[it's a convertible]
What seat belts best suit this purpose?
Or, are there VW that will "cross over"?

You can buy used ones from a 75 or later bug or just go to your local flaps and order them in, a mob in Melbourne make them.

if you do get a set make sure of the angle there suspose to sit at
otherwise they may not work when u hit the brakes there may be a bit of welding involved

You will need the floor/mounting brackets from a later model (1975?) and NEW seatbelts are about $120 each, from memory - I did my cabrio last year
(but I already had the floor brackets)

make sure they are made for the beetle --
or if you use belts from another vehicle
make sure they work OK at the angle in Your beetle
as they only work at a certain angle
usually vertical....
I've seen some that won't work
because they were at a slight angle...

Be very careful what you do here.
You may need an engineer's report on the new seat belts as they may need to comply with the ADRs. They may need to be inspected and passed by the
rego people.
If you retrofit non-compliant belts, and you have an accident and your insurance company finds out, you could suddenly become uninsured. You might
also become unregistered and un-third party insured.
Be careful, be very careful.

Has any body had any luck with installing inertia reels in the back of a beetle? If so can any body give me a part number or the like?
