I re-read this build thread way too often.
Can't believe you keep hitting animals. I hit an eagle in the Subaru a couple of months ago, that was an interesting experience.

Aside from being few hundred KMs overdue for its first oil change (sorry Dave!) I couldnt be happier with it,
That new gearing works out perfectly, its much happier on the motorway now.

Very interesting read. Cool to see how you can go about adding mod cons & gadgets to the old beetle.
I think in the latest pictures it is looking its best. Overall the style just flows well. Funny you went back to the red strips & fogs, I like

I sourced some of these from the UK a few years back. Just Google Vitaloni California UK. Places like VW Heritage and JJC Race and Rally carry them.
Can't remember the place where I actually got mine, but thought it was called GTI Autosport or something like that.

I picked mine up from some Hot-rod supplies shop in Sydney.
was about 7 years ago now so the name of place escapes me but it may be on the box which I still have somewhere.
There is this guy in Melbourne but sounds like he only has the RHS

The web address on the box is for some American based place so the mob in Syd I bought them through must have just imported them from US
Googling the part number did turn up this in aus though
