Porsche 944

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Porsche-944S-1989-Alpine-White-Leather-interior-RARE_W...

Fact or fiction??

This is a Porsche 944S model.
It is a Porsche 944 with a flat 4, 16 valve 2.5 litre engine- not a standard 944. My understanding is that only 7 were delivered to Australia.
It is a front-engined Porsche and is NOT a 924 Porsche, nor an Audi or Volkwagon!

Just interested if there is a 16 valve flat four??

Hey Barry,

Testing the memory now, but from what I understand there were 3 engine configurations for the 944 model.

2.5L inline atmo engine
2.5L inline turbo
3.0L inline atmo

No flat fours for this model

The only similarity the 944 has to a beetle is the rear suspension........

Cheers

these models had the gearbox at the back of the car too for better weight distribution from memory.

I've never read about any Flat front engined 944's. I've got quite a few Porsche references at home, and don't recall this model. Bazza I'll check tonight and let you know. It also appears to have the standard 944 oval exhaust tip, so I think they've just got their enhine config incorrect in the listing. Unless of course they've done a Subi transplant, then it all makes sense!!!

Ask them to post a picture of the engine!

Maybe a 944 S2? ie the second generation of the 944.

interesting point, the 944 S3 was being built, bat had so many differences if became the 968. the 968 has to be of the best handling cars, going through sideling last year in targa was magic!!! just wish he had it fixed for this year so we could run again :(
