'69 Getting Ready for Re-spray

Hi All

I am getting the dub resprayed. Here are some pics of her being stripped down. I will add more as it happens. I originally chose a colour off the current Mazda Six range, however was told it was a group 3, mica and pearl paint. I could see the dollar signs ticking over so I change the colour selection slightly.

Cheers

Hi Shane

Thanks. It is fairly rust free (one jack point and one guard bolt hole rusted). I am not painting it as have no experience, being done by professionals.

Cheers

Hi All

While the car is being resprayed, I thought I may as well have the engine checked out. Pulled it apart yesterday and found a few things that need fixing. Anyway I am thinking about making it 1700cc. See what the dollar bill comes to first. Here are some pics of it stripped down.

Cheers

Adam

Yeah. I have the work cut out, but I figured that if the outside looks good, I need a good engine.

Hopefully once finished, it will look awesome

Hi all

Here is what the car looked like before being stripped. Unfortunately I don't have a pic of the right hand door which was all dented and buckled or the front right guard where it had little rust holes around the headlight. Also I changed the deck lid for more air flow. Air is good in Darwin.

Cheers

Just tell Rachel it will be worth it in the end and it's not my fault. You can lead a dog to water, but you can't make him drink it.

Can't wait to see the end result.

Hey Pete

Thanks Mate. I am getting itchy feet. Can't wait to get it back and driving her again....

Hopefully this is what it will look like, minus the wheels, but hopefully they won't be far away.

Cheers

Hey All

Here are some update pics of the '69. Still a little way to go but hopefully it won't be long before it is back on the road.

Hi All

here is an update on the Bug. It is still a work in progress but should be finished soon.

As you can see, it is a little dusty at the moment, but with a polish should come up schmick.

Cheers

PaulD - Cheers for that. I am hoping it will turn some heads when finished. I went in today for a quick look and it is coming along nicely. Headlining needs to be finished and windows put in. And a good polish. Can't wait to drive it.

Pete - I ended up going with a rebuilt 1600. Funds were a little low, however, I am moving to Townsville at the end of the year. A couple of trips to Mick's Motors in Brissie may be needed.

Cheers

Adam

87mm piston and cyl kit, ratio rockers, ported heads and some kadrons should give you a smile when you can get around to it. ;)

Well.................After a long awaited return, and 8 months and 15 days, my bug returned to me on Fri 19 Dec at 11:24am and was loaded onto a truck at 11:57am to head to Townsville. Hence I haven't even driven it :(

Once I get to Townsville and once it arrives I will post some new pics.... Must admit it looks great!!!

Cheers

Hopefully my beetle will be delivered tomorrow!!!! Fingers, toes and anything else crossed....

After being picked up, it has come the long way to Townsville from Darwin. It went via Adelaide and Brisbane, which is where the truck broke down and the driver was ill.........

Can anything else go wrong????????????????:spin::spin::spin:
