J pipes on type 3 motors

I'm probably going to be putting J pipes on my engine when I replace the exhaust soon - there is not a lot of need for heating in Brisbane.

What is the best method to plug off the fan-housing 'horns', without making it irreversible. Spray-can lids with hose clamps?

thanks, Angus

Yes you can use pray can lids.

Or you can use cork i not sure where to get it but one of the type3 engines I had at one time came with them blocked of with cork.
or maybe the stuff they make eskys out of a nice thick bit would nicely

maybe a fishing shop maybe able to help with the cork..

hiope this helps

I have had spray can lids on mine for 18 months and still ok. What type of exhaust set up are you going to put on?
Cheers

Thanks guys. I can dimly remember using spray can lids on a splitty I had with a later engine, sounds like it will work fine. Most other cars I've had have been stale-air.......

Nothing spectacular about the exhaust going on, quiet-pack single muffler with extractors. Mine currently has the standard exhaust but it has some small holes in it. Not loud yet but it's heading that way.

Cheers, Angus
