What is this Weber?
I was unable to find a site to identify my carby. Numbers on the carby are:
40 DCN 14 8K
It is a Weber, but other than that i have no idea. If anyone knows this model and any info on it, i'd be very appreciative.

its a 40mm dnc ie a dual barrel synchronized. so a barrel for each side oft the engine

It's a 40 DCN, originally off an Alfa I think. Used for years as a single or dual, yours is oviously a single.
Or, if it was a trick question, 'A carburetor'

Yes they work quite well

Dave I reckon Barls meant twin choke progressive, not twin progressive carbs.

yep it ran nice
yes twin open chokes
not progressive both butterflies open at same time
you used to be able to by a twin set of carbies and mainifolds as well as the center mount single carby of course the IDAs and IDFs were much
superior ( and still are ) for a twin carby set up and engine size

You tell the Berg's that.
I'm sure they are still trying to sell twin 42 DCNF kits.
Best part using them instead of IDF/IDA is the space in a sedan, for plug changes etc.

the other option for the IDA /Fs is to cut access panels or holes in the inner guards to get the plugs out and check tighten the mainifolds as
routine maintance
yeah well the Bergs were always slow I dont think they know about fuel injection as yet
they do tried and tested items that always sell and if its not in Hot VWs magazine then its way out there LOL

Personally I dont like cutting inner guards. With the right tools and a good double jointed elbow you can maintain these.
About efi and the Bergs you better get your facts Dave.
The IDA/Efi manifolds that I raced with on the choptop (Haltech), '94-98,were Berg protos that they developed prior to that.

They are all different models of Weber, there are many more too, but these most common for dak daks.

as alot of ppl know i love my dcn/f's
i still got a few under the house in twins and singles
theyre a great old carb and work well single (if u have manifold heat) or twins
the only complaint i ever had with them is the fuel bowls abit small so they dry up quick when sitting or when high speed cornering
b4 i shoved the blower on the 1776 i was running a pair of 40 DCNs of a ferrari dino on short scat manifolds
they have a very grunty roar to them even a single on a stock 1600 
jaryd that one of urs would be a dog around town cos it had no preheat
ive got one on that same manifold somewhere
the flange is crooked for some reason so they always look funny

The DCN rebuild kits are hard to get and costly now days. If you need a kit let me know via PM and I can give you the suppliers details. Took me weeks
to find someone.

Joel I wish I knew that before would have saved me heaps of time searching. I went to local shops to order and called around to Brisbane and Sydney
shops that advertised on the web. Probably sent nearly $40 in phone calls. Jaryd it sounds like Joel might be onto a winner. If not that contact I gave you can help.

cheers. i just saw that one on ebay today too.
the gaskets on my one are shot, but that pump valve and fittings are fine. i really should have tried to test the carby out before i pulled the
engine apart......... now i won't know whether the carb is junk or not. *slaps forehead*

there isnt much that can go wrong with them thats a hard fix and what is, is usually pretty obviuos - worn linkages, busted floats, broken mixture
screws etc
