Thanks guys...one thing I need to do is hook up the alternator. Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to get the alternator to work correctly.

I've spent way to much time getting myself in trouble with wiring! The old Vw trick of putting a new loom on top of the old loom and leaving them both connected gets me every time!

Trailer cable, fixed.
1 cable for the front of the car, 1 for the back, and 1 more for the engine. Jobs done. You still need fused battery feed for relays at each end, but that's it really.

Mr Stanley, if your alternator is of the internal regulator "one wire" type (only has one single post on top, without another spot for a single blade connector), then use battery cable (welding cable is good) to connect from that one connection bolt to your starter motor "large post", which should be connected to your battery, then you're good to go and your alternator will then charge your battery fine.

Also you could add a self resetting circuit breaker (like the modern cars have) to protect from over current.
Some of the battery isolate switches have another terminal or pair of terminals so it disconnects the alternator before (i think it's before) the battery disconnects.

Managed to get engine fired up yesterday and ran pretty nice. Just minor things to do like throttle return springs and hook up cable for fuel shutoff which has been moved since video. Special thanks to DB for guidance and help and Henry for the bits. And yes breather will be changed for something more substantial.

Here is a short video. http://youtu.be/T37FR1dZJEM

Results of TnT...only managed two runs on the night due to other peoples issues.
First run was easy take off through 1st and 2nd and nailed in 3rd to shift light at 6800rpm to make sure for one that belts stayed on but mostly to check AF which was reading way rich. Next run was normal launch and run, although not the cleanest, to set a baseline for tuning. Next outing will change the pill and hopefully crack the 11's. Mine is car 3.

Thanks Andrew and Barry...I wanted to go to Sydney but needs a bit more tuning and a couple of small tidying up things.
Drained the oil yesterday and apart from the tell tale signs of methanol use all was good. Fuel system now cleaned waiting for next TnT.

Couple of minor changes since last outing mainly the new breather. Was set for a TnT Wednesday but wasn't happy with my brakes. So will fit a new staging brake that works and fittings that don't leak. Hoping for the 9th.

I've had the gearbox out to have some new gears fitted by DB so decided to do an 1 1/4" trans raise. I also wanted to brace the frame horns which meant adding a passenger side intrusion to stiffen up the cage for support. Also cut a lot of tin from the rear for clarance as well as some of the parcel shelf where the box poked through. Pretty happy with the stance now, although this was only one of the reasons. Finally got it back on the wheeks today.
