Looking great, inspiring even. Man I need to start doing mine again.
If you want some light weight stripes go to clark rubber and buy some of the stick on chrome moulding and make your own flash.
Of red pinstriping would look cool.

Milestone today with the engine started after a complete re-wire.
Only major jobs left to do now is fit rear brake hoses and lines and bleed brake circuit and I can take it for a drive.
Apart from that I need to get some rear shocks and fit some stops to prevent positive camber which is why the rear guards are still off.
Then just some small tidy up jobs and it's ready for Warwick

"flash trim" is just silver pinstripe. Couldn't get any chrome pin stripe. Not entirely happy with it but It will do for now.
Squid just needs to make me a lid for the battery box now and fit some vents to it.
When finish hiding the important wire I forgot I will post some pics.....:D

Test drove it today after getting all the brakes working. Was expecting a leak from the long tube where it goes into the tee block but that didn't happen so all bled and working well.
I think I freaked a few of the neighbours out driving around with slicks and no rear guards.
drives well except it's bloody noisey

Nice going. What's the worst part of the noise, exhaust or just because there's no interior or sound deadening etc?
Type of stuff that needs earplugs??

Love the way the car is turning out by the way.

All ready for Warwick

I was going to say finished but I don't think it will ever be finished. All it needs is a wheel alignment which is happening tomorrow morning and then it will wrapped in cotton wool until Warwick. Which is a good thing because now I can have a volksy free weekend next weekend for my wedding anniversary.

It will be running without a rear apron and decklid. mailnly because the rear apron needs cutting around the exhaust and I don't want to do that so I can use it when the turbo comes off?????. With no rear apron pointless running a decklid, plus it's not painted.

Must also take this opportunity to thank, apart from the guys on this forum for their encouragement, Pete Page for supplying the car, Rod Richardson for the shiny wheels and for their encouragement and advice along the way and special thanks to Dave Butler for all the help, support and advice (not to mention building a super box). And westi I haven't forgotten about the beer I promised.

Anyway here's some pics of my Tight Arse drag car.

Awesome car Stanley!!!!!

I love it! The amount of fun you will have in this car will far way out the cost.
I wish more people would follow you lead and just build something to have fun in, it's heaps better than bench racing like me!
Congrats and all the best for Warwick.

thanks everyone....yeh I can't wait for Warwick....all though I must admit nerves are starting to creep in.

Had the wheel alignment today. All was good. Managed to ensure I had some rear toe in. Funny thing was the guy who did it was a great kid but was less than half the age of the car. Noticed him going round and round the rear until he finally came in and said..."how do I adjust the rear". Took him out and explained how it all worked.

Boss didn't end up charging me because he said his tech learnt more from the experience. Can't ask for better service than that so if you're out Ipswich way see Crooks tyre and mechanical.

Also nothing like a beetle with slicks to draw a crowd....

Cool man!

All ready then!

Once you get that first run the nerves will go.

I still get nerves on the first pass of the day after nearly 18 years.
