Have fun.

hey mate, you looking good for Warwick then?

Do you stay on-site or drive home at night? How far is it from Warwick to Karana Downs? Trying to work out logistics.

bit of progress for Warwick

1st pic is the pistons modifed by DB. I've gone from 87mm back to 85.5 but hopefully with some tweaking It will go faster than before.

2nd is a pic of the rear where i've cut more out to make engine removals and access to heads better.

In doing so I lost my bumper mounts so I had to find an alternate way to support the forks. I've run some flat from the rear mount to the shock towers. Not the best but I don't lanch hard so this should be fine for now.

last pic is the engine ready to go back in again after assembly yeaterday and today....although shed is out of bounds on fathers day....apparently.

It's not the size of the fuel tank, it's what's in it.

Warwick 2009 wash up

What a fantastic weekend. Great event, Great cars, Great people and Great racing. Well done Craig and track staff.

It was good to catch up with all the usuals and those who I hadn't met before.

From my perspective and for those interested, Frankenstein (formerly known as the TAT) performed well and best of all I drove it off the trailer when I got home.

First run was purely to keep an eye on the AF meter with it around 12.5 – 13 at WOT. This proved the lack of fuel in the tank was the previous problem.

On the last run I finally remembered to check the boost to find it was only running 4.5psi compared to the 10.5 previously.
This would have been the case all weekend. I suspect I have a leak somewhere in the system which could also explain the pinging sound a couple of people heard after checking tappets and timing.

After 7 runs

Best ET - 8.55 (last year 8.39)
Best MPH - 78.81 (last year 81.0)
Best 60ft – 1.804
And best light - .407

This was after reducing the capacity from 1641cc to 1585cc and having less than half the boost of last year. Other differences from last year, CW crank and an MSD. Everything else is stock

Thanks to my boys for coming up and helping their “old man” out and special mention to Dangerous DB for his help and wisdom

Next is to find the source of the lack of boost and if it’s an easy fix I’m keen to get down the quarter without a breakage. It was hard to start prior to the last run and didn’t idle well when I got home. I’m hoping this might be a vacuum leak and the source of the missing boost and not an internal problem.

As for next year, the plan is to install a half cage, fit a narrowed beam, do away with turbo, fit an SC14 Toyota blower, different carb, and switch to methanol. Why? Because I like to tinker.

It was awesome to meet you on friday, and check out the car over the weekend.
For the people who don't know/cant work it out....... what sort of carb/turbo/manifold are you running??

Hope you had a sweet weekend :)
