Number 2 sons Baja
Hopefully I'll put up some pics here of my son Michaels' Baja that we've been putting together for the past couple of years. We've still a few
things to do to get it on the road (and off!) like the Subie seats modified to fit and front bumper and front suspension supports located and fitted.
Also seat belts...now is it law now to have to have rear belts fitted? As there is fittings for belts there already we'll fit them but is it a legal
requirement? The paint has to be sorted out as there is quite a lot of imperfections to say the least but hey I'm no paint and panel expert, anyway I
hope you like it. Barry

only if they are approved, if seat belts have been fitted and approved then yes u have to have them but if some one just fitted them with no approval
then having them in by the letter of law is against the law. Seat belts have to be fixed properly by ADR standards. I had problems with my 61 baja,
someone had fitted a set in the front and not approved them, they failed my roadworthy on it so i removed them and it was no worries..
steff................
p.s really like the look of the baja, sod the paint leave it like that and get it dirty to hide the imperfections

Could have sworn I just replied to Graham and Nick but nothing has come up so another attempt I had a '72 beetle in London that my dad had bought brand new and there were no rear seatbelts but all
the fittings were there but were fitted with plastic screws to plug(!) the holes so I assumed rear belts were optional extras and wondered if the
legalities were the same in Oz i.e. if they weren't fitted originally they weren't compulsory. I mean you don't fit seatbelts to vintage cars!
Thinking about all this , it's a bit academic as I'll be fitting them anyway Nick the cannons I got from Classic VW, I can't remember how much though? BTW Steff black was chosen for the reason that it does
show the dirt I'm serious, my son wants to get down and dirty!!!

My boys were looking at your Baja and have said it was "awesome and fully sick". Spoken like a true 12 and 6 year old. i think it looks great too - reckon it would be a load of fun.

I meant if they were factory fitted, and since it was built after 69, they were factory fitted
