from a kombi to a panel
hey all,
i know im gonna get a lot of "why in the hell..." and "you should be killed" type comments but anyway... I was wondering if it is
possible to close the side windows up on an 11 window splitty and turn it into a panel van? Anybody have any links to websites or pictures of type
2's that have had this done to them? I just think that panel vans look better than 11 windows and i dont want to have to sell my baby since too
much has been done to it.
Thanks for all the help!

Ouch!! It's a shame, but it is your bus, so do what you want to...
If you really want to do it, it is possible, but there will be some work involved in getting the panels flat. Welding tends to warp the metal if not
done properly. You may want to fill in the inside as well. It is possible, but I wouldn't do it. Why not just buy a panel and have a matching
pair?

Cut bits of metal to the size of the windows, paint them and then install as per windows.
That way you can reverse it down the track if you ever have to sell and still have a car worth something. |

the price will drop like crazy when u do stuff like that to a split
and as col said, when u weld the panels in they will warp like mad and will need plenty more panel beating b4 its even half perfect.
if u go the dark tinted windows its pretty sweet looking ! and not cost $3000 odd to plug the holes like u are talking.

actually ive been thinking carefully about it and decided just to tint it so that it is almost not possible to see through. I've been telling
myself that I'm doing this because it will look just as good and be cheaper but I think deep down inside its simply that I can't bare to
destroy a classic.
