Marlins ID Tag & help with head removal

Howdy

Can some please tell me where to find the ID plate on a 86 Caravelle.

and if the heads and barrels are seperate like the type1 motors as i have a drop valve seat on no 4 exhaust, well that what I think as the valve spring is about 10mm below the height of the other spring in the head and the rocker arm is close to the same back from the top of the valve.

thanks

marc

Unsure on the head and barrel question i will consult the Bible tomorow....
But i can relect from memory they are more of a pain in the arse than a type1.

Are u sure its a sick valve; quite uncommon, but not uncommon???
Obviously you have checked the plugs and leads?? Almost same symptons.

Iwish4aSynchro
yeah very sure the exhaust valve on number 4 is sitting about 10 mm down into the head.

Which is a bummer would have like to keep this engine in there, I just not into pulling this motor apart and doing the heads.

Yes the heads & barrels are seperate.....at least they were when it was built.....however after sitting in water for the last 22 years, they may need some persuasion to seperate now......

How many murphies did u encounter?

Just the usual in depth stuff. I will be dropping the heads off one this weekend, dreaded T3 Heads... :grind:

huhuhuhuh ahh easy way out?
How many dollars did u get for it?
PM if u wish to tell..

I am trying to way up the cost vs sale price, sale price = 3500 and that includes me doing the heads.

I had thought of parting her but it's onjly the heads that are up shit.

Have i set the price too low see post http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=69725

I found previous owner and he suggested that one of the heads leaked. But at time of purchase it wasn't leaking but now that a sale was very near final (no money has exchanged hands) it started leaking the next day..:td:

I will make maybe 100 bucks after whole fiasco.

No rego on beast. And i wont register it for a sale less than 5G.
