Oran Park; going, going....almost gone
For the fifth time this year, I went out to Oran Pk today. The place is closer and closer to becoming a whole bunch of Mc Mansions.
Can I encourage anyone with even a passing interest in motorsport, to go out and have a wander around the place before it's gone. Sure it's a bit
run down and under maintained these days, but the whole vibe of the place reeks of oldschool racing and bigboys toys. Every form of motorsport is in
some way supported on the grounds from offroad to 4wding to carts to rallying to 1/8 mile drags and of course, circuit racing in it's many forms.
Many of Australias greatest racing names have been there and the circuit is one of the best in Australia even in it's current state. The best thing
is, even on the busiest days, the general public can wander round the whole of the pitts and talk to anyone. Try that at Eastern Ck during a big race
meeting.
I say this because, after the Bug-in a lot of people gave the facility a hard time for being a bad show venue. I really think it wasn't fair. It's
not a show venue, it's a real race track. There is no where else in NSW where all of those events could have been held along with a show. And later
on this year, there will be nowhere at all in NSW where all three disciplines could race in the same place.
Anyway, take the opportunity while the its still there. There's something on most weekends. Club days mean no entry fee for spectating, so grab a
camera, throw the kids in the car and go for a drive. Take a walk around the place while you still can.

Its a shame, i buy Australian Muscle car and all the old storys of the meets where Moffat used to blast his killer GTHO against Brockie's XU-1....
Truly inspirational and such a shame

Some really nice pics. Love the baby Austin a30. Reminds me of the one Brocky used to race all those years ago. Thanks for sharing the memories.

Those pics take me way back, think I'll get out the old photo album
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!
