Can't help with interference on the upright kit, though I'd expect a few mods will be needed.
Don't forget you'll need a new fuel pump (35psi from memory), pressure regulator and a tank return line in the Kombi in addition to all the
other FI stuff, assuming you have a dual carb set up currently.

Have a look at:
http://www.type2.com/bartnik/tech.htm
and scroll down to the fuel injection info. There's a number of shots of the stock FI set up.

Oh, just read the other thread, sounds like it comes with the pump, but no regulator, so you just need a new fuel tank.
Don't know if it's a good idea to run without a regulator? Could give un-even injection rates??

you would need to make a new plenum and intake runners or modify the standard one to suit the fan housing.

What year is your Kombi? If it is a Split body you will have trouble with any type of fuel injection and clearance issues around the engine bay sealing
rubber. If you are prepared to cut the body and modify the sealing method, you can modify some intake manifolds from the dual carby motor- cut off the
pipes for the balance tubes and drill out the holes to suit the Type 4 injectors. You will need to fabricate some hold down clamps. You will need to
then fabricate an intake manifold with a centre throttle body-you could adapt the original Type 4 throttle body.Very time consuming, but can be done
using exhaust pipe bends. You could also use the original Type 4 fuel injection manifolds, but would need to cut the two intake runners off where they
join the cast iron ends and fabricate an intake manifold from there.Again a lot of work.I believe there is a place in Sydney that sells throttle
bodies that will fit directly onto weber manifolds with the injectors fitting into the throttle body.If you go this way you will have no clearance
issues, but would have to change all of your management system.I am currently making a system for my car.I have a 2.7lt Type 4 engine in a 56 Beetle
with a Porsche cooling system and have real clearance problems.I am using the Delco system from Holdens, with Ford Falcon Bosch injectors. The biggest
problem is getting the injectors close enough to the intake valve, yet have the fuel rail clear the body.I have made the intake manifold from exhaust
pipe bends and machined my own injector pockets from 25mm round bar.I have used a centre mounted throttle body from a 3lt Nissan and it fits behind
the fan shroud with easy throttle cable hook up.Its been a lot of work, but I have the advantage of being in the process of a total restoration,so have
been able to lift the body off the floorpan easily to run new supply and return fuel lines in tunnel.Have a 10mm supply with 8mm return.

Turbo and exhaust location has no major influence over the fuel injection-you only need an intake pipe from turbo to throttle body.If it is a
Baja, would probably be simpler to convert back to flat type engine and use all the standard Type 4 intake and cooling system.
