Finally made it to the Nationals in My beetle
Left home at 530am Scone
arrived around 1030am...?
had a few stops along the way
drove down with 4 other beetles
down the winding [plus Up & down hills] Putty Road..
My Wife came as Co-driver
so I didn't get to see any cars in the carpark etc..
and spent a lot of time looking for her..
[forgot about the 2 way radios in My bag..lol]
Was larger ?? than I remember.. lots of people...
It took Me a long time to find the swap meet...
I liked it much better down the back..
Will be back next year... as usual..
and hopefully in My beetle again...

it purred like a kitten until the inlet manifold and carby iced up...
and the beetle stopped on the winding hilly mts on top of a hill...
I taped up all the vents etc to stop any cold air getting in.
it also used twice as much fuel going down as on the way back home
so the icing up really chews thru the fuel...
I have a few things to do to fix the problems, which I should have done before instead of after the Nationals..lol
Very Long Day...
thinking about staying in Newcastle night before next years or even staying in Sydney... lol..
I like to have a big day at the nationals..
but My Wife - Co-driver wanted to go home before I even had lunch.... lol

sounds like quite an adventure you had.. nice one..
maybe next year leave the handbrake at home an let ya hair down with all the 'i want to be there type of peeps'

Hey this hand brake loves the cars I drive my oval to all the shows even up to Warwick. My handbrake winges at me and says take the Toyota to Warwick
and tow my bug but I say no way. lol
Maybe you could go to Warwick it's a great long weekend. I''ve been two years in a row now it's fun fun fun I might even drag the bug this
year.
Well done Lee that's no so bad.
When we drove our bugs to Canberra last year Ian broke a clutch cable in his when we where out on the Sat night and had to drive it back to the cabin
with no clutch and change it in the dark took a couple of hours. And went to the show the next day. It's all fun we take lots of spare parts.
Actually the show at Canberra in Sept is another good show to go to.

Hi Rose,
I saw your beetle there but didn't see you
I was busy most of time looking for my wife... lol
I took pics whenever i could...
I have a sister in law in Adelaide who should be moving to Canberra sometime in the future , as her husband is working in Canberra [dept defence]
so, I'm looking at having a place to visit when a VW show is ON... lol
I was really lost with the changes at the nationals...
I don't like change.. lol...
but next time i will make sure i'm there all day...
I even took chairs which didn't get unloaded..
but next time....

Yeah ugg boots that go up to my knees and a coat that goes down to my knees and a blanket lol they all have fun at me when we drive up to valla as
most of the guys have a heater and I don't. Nice and chilly in my oval.

I was wondering whether you have a heater Rose...
many VWs with extractor exhausts etc
don't usually have them...
My heater cable kinked when I turned it off at the nationals...
and i had HOT air all the way home
which wasn't bad once it got Cold....
but I had the windows down for a while.... lol
I just found out My sister in law isn't moving to ACT...
so it will be a long drive...
I'll have to check with the Co-driver... lol
