The WRX is a 'flat' boxer design, the MGF uses an in-line four cylinder. In short, forget the WRX conversion as the engine won't fit

Turbo Nissan 2.0 litre 4 cylinder RB20DET
Cost to get someone to do all the work drive in drive out may cost between $10,000 and $20,000. That is if an engineer will approve it.

I think Helbus means the;
Turbo Nissan 2.0 litre 4 cylinder SR20DET
The RB family of engines (20,25,26 etc) are 6 cylinders and much longer than the SR 4cyl motors.
I think you should sell the MG and buy something else faster. It will be much cheaper.

Yes Wes, The SR 4 cyl, that's the one. I was RB'd on the brain.
A guy at work has fitted one to his MGB. There are no plans or pics though, he just makes it fit and work.

your other alternative is an mitsubishi EVO motor. 4G63 is the code i think. Just remember, what ever you use, you'll need a gearbox that can hand
the power.
Hang on a minute. Doesn't the MG is a very similar motor to the Lotus Elise? There are a number of turbo kits for them.
If you really want a WRX you could do it, however, it would take a lot of engineering. You'd need to use a subaru tranny and mount is all under the
rear of the car. Doable, but why bother when you could just turbo the original motor.

Yes I could turbo charge my existing motor. And lotus elise used the same motor for a while. But the motor it self is not vary reliable.
Ok if i would have to turbo charge what is the rough figure ?? cost wise. even a vary low boost 5psi??
or will it be cheaper to change the engine and gear box from jap engine to make a monster ???
anyone knows any garage around banks town who does this kind of performence works ??? |

honestly, for a turbo/intercooler/ECU on your stock motor, I'd plan around $5k minimum. I'd check some UK sites out for kits. someone must have done
it.
check this...
http://www.morego.co.uk/bbr-gti/RoverK.php
You could talk to AVO in Melbourne too.
A swap will cost more. I'd say at least $10k by the time it's finished, engineered, aproved and the like.
Honestly, the best thing you can do is sell the MG and buy a series 1 or 2 toyota MR2. Cheaper, billion hot up parts available, everyone knows what to
do to them, etc, etc.
MGs are rovers, rovers are....well you know. no offence.

look at what your MG is worth and add on the cost of modifying it then try and figure out what it will be worth as a modified vehicle. if the numbers
don't scare you then go for it! modifying cars is fun...that is why we are all here

Forget any old V8's, and most import engines. The big problem with trying to do a conversion on a current model car is satisfying emissions
requirements. You have to put in an equivalent or newer engine for the conversion to be legal. Almost anything to come in through a jap importer
won't be new enough to satisfy this requirement, and even current jap cars don't necessarily meet the euro emissions level that the MG is likely
complying with.
I really don't think it'd be worth trying to modify the MG, unless you decided to turbo what you already have, which has it's own set of problems.

forgive me if I'm getting mixede up, but someone said its the same motor as some Elise?? which motor is it, the Rover motor, or the Toyota??
if its the rover, and the toyota can fit where the rover cdoes, maybe consider a late model toyota powerplant, MR2 or Celica, Camry or Corolla, the
biggest that will legally fit. Do some research and you might be pleasantly surprised.
but it will still probably be cheaper and easier to sell the MG and buy somethng faster. Silvia/200SX, WRX, EVO lancer, MR2, Celica, there are plenty
of faster options to suit pretty much any budget, if you decide to go that way, and most will be much cheaper than upgrading what you got.
Having said that, if you love the MG, and what it faster, feel free to pour all the cash you want into it.
Danielles beetle is back of the road for its makeover, and I got the job of project manager/head mechanic/artistic advisor/ideas man.
and somehow she got a type 3, which is all good, because I got 'Victa' the 'spare parts Type 3'
